Default St Kilda v Geelong Etihad Stadium - Round 14 2009

Game of the year and its taken 13 completed rounds to get there. I'm going to tip the Cats but should be a cracker.

Forwards - We sh*t on theirs
Midfield - Even
Backline - We have the better backline, only 760-something points against us in 13 games is ridiculous.

I think we need to stop Ablett (obviously) but I think Goddard should be given the role. Maybe rotate between Jones and Goddard.

Riewoldt & Koschitzke need to fire, as to does one of the small forwards (Schneider OR Milne, doesn't worry me). If we can keep applying pressure to them, we SHOULD win. I'm not lying, every game the Cats have lost in their 55/58 run, they've been beaten with intense pressure. Collingwood last year beat the Cats with alot of pressure around the contests, and Hawthorn did the same in last years Grand Final.

I'm obviously worried about this game, but ....St.Kilda by a goal.

I agree your forwardline is better, midfield pretty even, maybe slightly towards the Cats, but I reckon their backline has yours covered.
Jones will probably get first crack at Ablett, but this man is almost impossible to stop. I really think the Saints need to back themselves, play their game, and not worry bout the Cats.
Should be an absolute cracker, can't wait for this game.
When the pies beat the Cats last year, their pressure was as intense as what the Saints have shown all year. Could this be the key?

I think it has been the key for a while. I mean, has Geelong really ever been challenged for the past couple of years? Look at the game this year against the Bulldogs and look at how much pressure the Doggies applied. If Brad Johnson kicked the winner that night I'm almost certain people would be backing us to win this week. But hey, that's football. All we need to focus on is general pressure and winning the contested ball. They are #1 in the competition in contested ball so we need to lift.

Hopefully Dal breaks free of his horror run against Ling.

I would have thought that the Cats had the better forward line and midfield and the Saints a much better backline fellas?

What's the chances of a draw?

Well done the Saints. The real deal. They need to stop giving up their early leads like yesterday and against the Blues.

I was at the game and it was a great atmosphere. Jones did well to nullify Ablett. Although he had 20-25 possies, he didn't have his usual impact. Chapman was his usual great player as was Selwood. Hayes was our shining light in the midfield with Gilbert and Sammy Fisher the best in the backline. Ball and Gram were very average as they have been all year. They will need to pick up their games with Armitage, Luke Miles and Dempster all ready to walk into the side when they get their opportunity. Great game anyway by the Sainters and I was genuinely worried 2 or 3 times when Geelong threatened to get their noses infront. Now the Saints just need to not get ahead of themselves and continue with their great footy and hopefully they can do the same against Geelong in the granny.
