cgih is right, too hard to tell at such an early stage. Judd has almost if not everything you'd want in midfielder, as long as his injury isn't permenant. Don't know if Carlton could've solved their backline problems in this draft - there weren't a lot of decent backmen that went high, apart from Rance and Pears, but they both play quite loose which isn't what they're looking for.

Masten's will be good, but I'm quite certain he won't reach the heights of Judd (as much as I'd like him to) - as a player he's much more vanilla - doesn't have the burst of speed, agility and the goal kicking ability of Judd, but will be a very good inside mid, in the vain of someone like Simon Black. Was a very safe pick by WC.

Kennedy has a great work ethic about him and I'm sure he'll make it AFL footballer, as WC development staff are a lot better than Carlton's. As you mentioned, the signs in P/S were promising - very willing to put his body on the line and much more of a bash and crash old style CHF than Hansen, who's more of the modern day lead-up style.

Notte has a bit of X-factor about him - in particular a pair of very sticky hands. WC went with 3 very safe options in Masten, Ebert and Selwood, so it made sense to take a bit of a punt and draft a LT prospect with a lot of potential that would need several P/S before debuting.

Lets also not forget that Carlton also got pick 46 (Armfield) out of the trade, who could well turn out to be a handy player for them.
