Gibson matches up extremely well on Franklin. Tore him apart in the semi-final last year and was reasonable in round 3 (Buddy kicked 5 but 2 or 3 were ridiculous free kicks). Then again was solid on the weekend.
I think what North did well was block the gaps Franklin normally runs into. He loves being isolated and having 1 on 1's. We made sure we had one of Petrie, Watt or Hansen sitting in that gap and going back with the flight in front of Franklin at all times. |
And the pressure your players put on their mid-field play makers that deliever the ball into the forward line was great as well,that was one of the many factors to shuting Buddy down.Great game for North Melbourne in terms of confidence for the rest of the season.
