Wallace has struggled to beat coaches such as Mark Williams, Schwab / Clarkson (Hawthorn), Malthouse, Roos and Matthews because of either their success at uncontested style of football, their ability to tackle fiercely, or the fact they have had numerous options up forward.

Wallace would probably like to play 22 wingman if he could. A fast running side that does not tackle. The purchase of Tambling and Oakley-Nicholls may come off, although at present Richmond stand 16th at clearances. Either at stop plays or centre breaks. In and under footballers would stop this trend. Richmond have refused to draft Nathan Jones and Jordan Lewis who are excellent at the stoppages, rather they chose Danny Meyer and Tambling types.

The lack of an up and coming spine could spell disaster for Richmond. If you pressure Richmond’s defence they do not have the ability to hit targets going forward. At the Bulldogs Wallace did not have the spine to win in September.

With the draft picks at his disposal (at Richmond) he could have well and truly improved the position of Richmond’s talls. However he has decided to go with the Western Bulldogs style again which did not pay dividends the first time around.

Wallace is a very smart business operator, has excellent media skills which will benefit the club with members and sponsorship. However it remains to be seen whether he will take the Richmond side to sustained success. The lack of tackling, sustained pressure, one per centers and clearances (with bigger bodies) need to be worked upon. Whether it will remains to be seen. As history and statistics show you need to be successful at tackling to win premierships. With Wallace at the helm it is highly doubtful.

Note: In Richmond’s best seasons in recent times: 1995 and 2001 they were a good tackling side.

1995: 1st in total tackles

2001: 3rd in total tackles.

1. Michael Hurley - top 10.

2. Chris Yarran - top 10

3. Nick Liddle (Coburg) - Rookie.

4. Foster (Ruckmen - Coburg - 2nds) - Can play: a taller (Charman) Rookie.

5. Michael Searl (North Ballarat) - 196cm - CHB) Skinny. Rookie.

6. Fort Caruso (defensive forward - Hooper) dual sided. Rookie.

7. Warnock - Freo - 206cm - Beast. Agile. Tough. Likes contested footy. 2nd round trade (23 - 36) + Freo giving up their 4th Rounder to us.

8. Adam Thomson - Port: Clearance / Stoppage king. 3rd round - trade.

The recruiters must go 'tall' this draft. We have holes at (194-196) for K.P.P's and 202+ for Ruckmen.

Miller / Jackson or Cameron (Dees) have not recruited this type of players at the Tiges / Dee's respectively. It is needed now.

Players who can kick / who are agile, who can play contested football and who can tackle are important. These players must be over 194+ (2 for K.P.P / and 2 for Ruck / depth are needed this draft).

The names mentioned (Talls) are productive. The others are good kicks, who are tough and can lay tackles.

Our Tackling is putrid. Wallace's tackling rates at all clubs are putrid. Get a coach who demands tackling is a must.

The Assistant coaches at Richmond are simply puppets for Terry.

No doubt - Craig McRae has been outstanding and with 'success' as a player has assisted our club - he has been excellent. However, we need another 'young' coach - who has been involved in premierships in recent times.

Clubs - who tackle well - and players who have to 'grasp' at everything they have got - both physically and mentally - to be successful make the best coaches - normally.

As we have a deficiency in tackling numbers - surely a midfielder - who will retire this season - who loved to tackle would be an excellent pick-up for us; as an assistant coach - working generally at stoppages, tackling and gameplans through the centre corridor.

Sydney: Ben Matthews, Nic Fosdike -

Brisbane: Nigel Lappin, Shaun Hart,

Geelong - do not have any-one old enough / or who will retire this season.

Adelaide, West Coast - do not have the tackling numbers in terms of teams / players.

Lappin / Ben Matthews would be superb. Nigel is a better player than that of just a 'plodder and trier' - however his knowledge and gut running will teach our blokes a lot. Ben Matthews - was a dour - if not consistent performer / who tried hard in most facets of the game.

Keep in mind - with Gold Coast and West Sydney entering soon - these players may know players / politics involved in the new organisation.

Ben Matthews and or Nigel Lappin and or both would bolster our coaching ranks even further.

Both blokes would be brilliant as development coaches - allowing Craig McRae to get more hands on - on match day.

To the recruiters of the R.F.C (C. Cameron, F. Jackson, G. Miller, T. Free of the Richmond F.C. Some possible pick-ups. The time has come people. Draft Talls in the 2008 NAB 'National Draft'. Anymore than 196 = Pattison and Ryder = no set position. What we need to do is get the KPP's of the 194-196 range in this draft.

In the Championships: Under 18. Must be 194cm+ for K.P.P - CHF / CHB. Both Underage.

1. Jack Watts Vic Metro. 194cm

2. Lewis Johnstone. South Australia. 193+ (growing)

In the U/18 TAC CUP. Must be 194cm / 196+ for K.P.P - CHF / CHB. Anymore than 196 = Pattison and Ryder = no set position.

1. Lucas Boyd - Geelong Falcons. 194cm

2. Jayden Post - Western Jets - 195cm

Playing in the VFL: Must be 194cm+ for K.P.P - CHF / CHB.

Searl - North Ballarat. 196cm CHB

Paul Colbert. - Northern Bullants - 194cm. CHF

Can't find where this boy is playing: Ryan Hobbs - North Ballarat / Victoria Country Squad member last year. 194cm. CHB / CHF

Ruckmen: Must be over 200 cm's. Apart from Putt, we need taller Ruckmen - especially with the new Ruck Rule. I am sick and tired using 'Hybrids' in the Ruck. The Rucks have cost us at least 2/3 wins this year. Rucks are either 200cm's or are not Ruckmen.

1. Robert Warnock. Freo. 206 cm. Trade for 2nd Round pick / Or Third and a player. If we give Shockers a round 2 pick - they give us a 4th rounder too.

2. Hawthorn Ruckmen: Campbell / Taylor. With Renouf and Bailey on the list how many Rucks can you have. Have a peak at contract status. No more than a third rounder for Taylor / Campbell.

3. Andrew Browne - Mansfield: Murray Bushrangers. 203cm -

4. Steven Foster - (Gippsland) 200cm. Coburg Tigers / 2nd's. This kid is good. Tough. Jamie Charman - Style. Real competitive beast!

Tackling midfielders / Flankers / Taggers: Who can still hit targets by foot (Which we lack in abundance).

1. Farran Priest - Murray Bushrangers.

2. Michael Stockdale - Gippsland Power

3. Nathan Schroder - Western Jets.

Love these kids playing for Coburg: To keep the "merger" happy - Select these boys - possibly.

1. Fort Caruso - Don't care about his size - he is a Craig McRae special. Defensive forward - we have lacked. Dual sided. Little champ.

2. Nick Liddle. - Watched him 6 times this season. Very clever, hard, good kick. When our 'spine is set' (With boys above) he will be the gloss on top.

3. Already mentioned: Steven Foster. How this kid is not on a Rookie list is amazing. Great competitor. Charman Like. Taller than Jamie!
