Default Ryce Palmer - 2007 AFL Draft Talk

Ryce Palmer is he the best WA have to offer?

Has risen with a bullet after the champs. Wouldn't have previously been rated top 15, but absolutely dominated. A definate top 10 selection now.

Dominated for WA in the U18 championships. Collected 36 possessions in the wet vs Vic Country, and got 34 possessions and 5 goals vs Vic Metro.

Described by some as the prototype modern midfielder with pace, balance, vision, has the ability to bring others into the game and loves to float forward and kick a goal.

Saw his game against Vic Metro and he was hard and fast and I liked it. If Freo finish low enough there is a chance we could get him and I hope we do. Masten from WA is probably the best WA have to offer at the moment.

Cale Morton (WA) won the Larke Medal (best div 1 player), but Rhys was a bit stiff not to get it (though he did get the Best WA player award, which is weird).

Rhys reminds me a lot of Justin Sherman (hard running, tenacious, loves a goal and to celebrate after). Keep in mind though that one of the main reasons he dominated is because he is physically very well developed (built like a tank) compared to the other guys.

Cale's very talented as well, very penetrating and accuarate kick on both sides, good contested mark, very mobile for his height (192cm), will become a very good tall winger/flanker. Compared to Rhys he's very skinny, so there's a lot of room for improvement in that regard. Would've been a F/S to West Coast if it wasn't for the rule change

Will be interesting to see who guys higher out of the two. I reckon Cale will.

Any chance the eagles will do a trade to get 1 or both of them ... baring in mind its probably going to take picks 3 & 4 to get them both?

Very much doubt it, if they were going to make a trade for a top 5, it should've been last year when guys like Leunberger and Gumbleton were available.

Why does everyone assume he is going first round? He'd be lucky to go top 10.

Because all 3 of the WA boys (Masten, Palmer and Morton) did very well at the draft camp and in the Championship. Palmer will obviously be top 10.

Palmer is definetly going in the top 10 Brades. He had a great carnival and he has done really well at the draft camp. He could go anywhere between 2 - 10.

this is my draftee hopeful.

Kevin Sheehan described him as a similar player Simon Black.
Essendon are desperate for some midfielders.
and this is exactly what we need.
he would step straight into the team.
