What are you talking about? Dean wasn't comitted? THats stupid.
DEan was one of the most intelligent players to pull on boots. His only problem was that he was unfortunately not blessed with an athletes body. Much like Lance Whitnall. It is hard to believe, but if you do your research, you will find that in the last few years of his career, Dean Riolis skin folds were NOT the worst at the club. Unfortunately his body type gave cause to lots of soft tissue injuries. To question his comittment is laughable. You only had to see how devestated he was when he missed playing in the grand final to realise that.

Our midfield has plenty of pace, what we lack is a clearance player. Jobe Watson is about the only clearance player we have on our list with Hird gone and the Johnsons past it. Masten fits this bill perfectly.

If Masten is the type of player that can consistently get in and get the ball, we need that. What we don't need is another inconsistent Lovett type speedster who does not do the hard work.

You have pace, but its very inconsistent players with the pace- Lovett Murray became a good player this year and looks to be a star of the future, but the rest of your midfield is pretty slow i think.

Stanton is quick, and is getting better all the time. Lovett is obviously fast enough. Winderlich is very fast, as is Nash. These are the players that will be tried through the midfield soon, and more regularly. But another consistent hard ball winner is a huge need. The stats this year showed Essendon was the second best side this season for clearances. That shows we were getting hands to the ball. However we were one of the worst for inside 50s. Something is breaking down there, and hopefully it wont take alot of tinkering to change that.
