Default Chris Kangars - AFL Draft Talk

Chris Kangars – Geelong Falcons, VIC, 193.1cm, 84.9kg, DOB 1/8/89
Honours
  • Vic Country representative - 2007 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships
NAB AFL National Draft Camp highlights
  • Repeat sprints – 23.59 sec (1st overall)
  • Shuttle run – 14-5 (8th overall)
Kevin Sheehan, AFL National Talent Manager says:
“Chris is new to the game. There’s a number of guys every year now that come into the game late; he had an athletics background and in fact over 400m in Victoria was ranked in the top bracket of athletes. That showed up at Draft Camp with his repeat sprints, which he led, and he’s quick over the 20m as well.
“He had a consistent series of games for Vic Country this year, so he’s your close-down tall defender; he can play potentially in the future on the likes of Nick Riewoldt who leads 50 times. This bloke will be right with him and is quick enough to be in a position to spoil, tall enough to do it and disciplined enough to do it, so he’s an improving tall defender that under the tutelage of Garry Hocking has taken giant strides this year.”

Hoping the Bombers will pick a nice midfielder up with pick 6, and this guy with pick 23. Thoughts ..?

I'm pretty sure he won't be there at 23, almost 100% sure, but I'm hoping like hell he'll be there as well.

yeah. i'm thinking he'll go around 15.
i wish we had of traded Kepler Bradley + pick23 for a pick12-18.
it would've helped in a scenario like this because pick6 is too high for Rioli, but pick23 is too low.

I'm thinking he'll go around the 5 to 15 mark. Sounds like a good trade you made up there, would've been great. I wouldn't be disappointed if we got Rioli with pick 6, as he is super quick and has the ability to kick plenty of goals.
Rioli, Winderlich, Dempsey, Houli, Stanton, Hislop, Lovett & Jetta sounds like a young midfield with plenty of pace to burn. But in saying that, hoping for Palmer with pick 6. With pick 23, I'm hoping Kangars.
