Default Pre season draft & Chris Judd

If Chris Judd makes it into the pre season draft will he definately go to Richmond?

Would you want your club paying him 1.5 million per year if you where not in his first four choices?

Even if my club was in his first 4 choices, I wouldn't want them paying anywhere near that, for any player.

In my opinion there is NO way Chris Judd will enter the PSD.

Word around is Melbourne are a real BIG chance, along with Collingwood and Carlton. I really wish trade week was tomorrow im getting tired of all the speculation.

Maybe if your club was Melbourne ,Richmond or Carlton you would think about your response. They are clubs in need off a big turn around and Judd might be the answer or lift they need.$1.5m is a heavy price but these clubs need to find another avenue to lift them off the bottom and quickly.

1.5 is a fair chunk of the cap now, but this is a 5 year deal
Those bad clubs have no-one else to pay, so to give Judd 1.5 now shouldn't be a problem.
In 2-3 years when some of the other players have kicked on with Judd's guidance, the cap has gone up 20%, and so now you have extra money to pay these players, with Judd still on only 1.5.

I would consider it.

i like it how you say "only" 1.5mil. only?
That is such a big chunk of the salary cap, we (richmond) woudlnt be able to afford any other players, let alone big names...last year we got polak- one of the best two pick ups of the year (along with rodan... ) but we wouldnt be able to afford another "polak" or someone similar- we'd have to go judd and the draft...even in a few years when we're a premiership chance!!!

haha but in saying all that, we still would definately take him. People bag us for taking fiora ahead of pavlich and tambling ahead of franklin...imagine if we took morton or whitnall or someone ahead of judd?

The general thought is that yes pay Chris Judd $1.5 million if that is what he wants.

In reality though, he will not command $1.5 million. He will put a realistic price on his head if he goes into the pre-season draft. He will be asking approximately $1.0 to $1.1 million per year to go to the club of his choice on a 5 year contract.

Some of you suggest to pay this and as the TPP (Total Player Payments) Cap rises then there will be more room for other players. In fact, what you will find is that the Chris Judd contract will be aligned with the TPP total in that his contract will be a percentage of the TPP for the club that he plays for. Therefore his salary will rise along with the TPP.

If Chris Judd gets to the PSD then he will probably put his price at about $1.2 million for 2-3 years and Richmond will pay this as will any other club.

So the long answer to the original question is that yes Chris Judd will definitely go to Richmond if he gets to the PSD!

that would be brilliant- we get a ready made superstar...for free (well, 1.1mil or whatever, but no players get given up)
