Default 2007 Draft Media Coverage

Contrary to what many in the main stream media think ... IMHO

a/ This draft might be a little deeper in talent than many think. Main stream media, cannot seem to get away from this fixation of finding ready made "super-stars". These so called "super-stars" that can play AFL football ... tomorrow. I do feel the crop of 2007 may be slightly immature but no less talented than previous years.

However, I do understand that "super-stars" sell news papers. As they say, you never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

b/ Every year at this time, main stream media would have you believe that player 1 is the best, player 2 is the second best, player 3 is the third best so on and so on. However, in hind site we know different ... this draft reminds me very, very much of 2001.

c/ Some clubs have a habit of using the media to "spin" absolute bull-dust. All this **** about the "top 2 where clear cut" player x is the "best midfielder" However, again ... with the value of hind site we know different.

Its all about grabbing a headline.

Let me also say that some player mangers are fully exploiting this.

The whole draft process has become one big game. A game of smokes and mirrors used by the media, clubs and player managers alike.

Good luck if you believe all what you read or hear in the main stream media.

Its all good saying these are the top ten draft picks and saying they will be champions of the game but we all know that ACTIONS speak volumes.
The media will and have for a few years hyped up the draft and by doing so have a hidden agenda(sell papers with-- 50% truth and 50% speculation in ALL draft storys) and we all get sucked in by the BS.

Clubs,Media and managers have been using the draft in regards to the "smoke and mirrors" since way way back so that is nothing new IMO.

Well how often do top 2 draft picks do anything major with there career's, rarely.

Like hell Goodsey was picked up late and look at the superstar he grew to become for us.

this is true for picks 3 onwards, but the first two picks, ever since have easilly averaged the most games than the rest of the draft.
And it really is more, because it includes the likes of Deledio, Murphy and Gibbs, who havent been around for the 150 odd games that pick ones have averaged...

So i think pick one and two are as good as they seem, but the rest is almost a lottery.
