Default 2013 Draft... Dogs, Pies, Dees and Blues

I've looked at the draft and now wondering which teams recruited well and who didn't

I'm questioning decisions made by Bulldogs, Collingwood, Melbourne & Carlton and now interested in the public opinion

Case 1.... Bulldogs, who would have you selected at pick #4?
- Marcus Bontempelli
- James Aish
- or other player?

Reason I question this call.... Bontempelli not regarded as a top10 player given ranking of #12, inconsistent at U18 Championships... Aish best available, ranking of #4. Bontempelli more agile can play off more positions... Based on everything I'd gone with Aish at pick #4....

Case 2..... Collingwood, who would you have selected at pick #6?
- Matt Scharenberg
- James Aish
- or other player?

I don't question the call, on a needs basis yes Scharenberg as Pies defense loosing key personal plus Scharenberg also SA MVP ranking of #6... Aish best available so was hard decision, Aish more known for outside clearance work at can get tagged out, wasn't the best for SA at the carnival both Schatenberg and Dunstan were, based on everything coin flip, Scharenberg

Case 3.... Melbourne, who would you have selected at pick #9?
- Christian Salem
- Nathan Freeman
- or other player?

Strange case, as Salem & Freeman both fast players however feel Freeman's combine results for speed and endurance impressive and Dees don't just need a fast player however a burst clearance player... Salem ranked #9, Freeman #10, close call... Based on everything another coin flip,Freeman

Case 4.... Carlton, who would you have selected at pick #13?
- Patrick Cripps
- Cameron McCarthy
- or other player?

Most strangest case as Blues have many needs... Cripps not sure best choice as ranked low to experts at #27 however Blues need an inside mid how gets clearances and proved it with All-Australian honours but bigger need might be a key forward think maybe McCarthy should have been looked at more closely also ranked a lot higher at #13... Based on everything, McCarthy lack of key forward

Great input for a NEW. Thought the Doggies went the right way & also in the rookies as did the Lions.. Would love to see all teams analysed..

You did not get this off me - but Demons rated Salem very, very highly. He was in their consideration for pick 2 but felt he would drop to around 10 hence why they did the Tyson deal.

Now .... over all in the last 3 years I think Demons have drafted very well. Trick is to get them all on the park at the same time. All reports out of Demon training is the triple towers of Clark, Hogan & Dawes will all be 100% by Round 1. Watch this space.
