Default Daniel Wells

out of contract end of season. seems to be really struggling in kangaroos colours. he should be a star of the AFL by now but seems he cant quite make it at the kangaroos. i think a change of clubs would see wells develop into potentially an elite AFL Footballer. article in the paper today was stating west coast are going to go all out to sign the guy, with plenty of room in the salary cap.

He is a W.A boy and im keen to find out opinions from the kangaroos supporters as to whether he should be let go or signed on. and from west coast supporters whether or not we should seriously consider him. i think he could provide a spark we need, a potential match winner in which we are lacking at the moment.

thoughts?

In the same article they also mentioned Joel Corey and Chance Bateman possibly returning to WA. Imagine that, West Coast with that midfield and bam we're back on top. Ah its fun to dream.

I would like to have Wells at West Coast I think returning to the west might improve his game. Havign him in the midfield would put some pace back in WCs side and I think him and Kerr would work well together. I dont know what we would give up for him though.

Chance Bateman won't return. I remember him saying in his 150th game that he wants to be a one club player. He requested a trade some years ago (when he thought Hawthorn wasn't working out for him), but nothing eventuated - and said he couldn't be happier.

Not sure about Joel Corey. Word is he's signed on with Geelong, but I'm not 100% - haven't seen a source yet.

Unless Wells backs NM into a corner i.e. trade me to WA or I'll go to the PSD (unlikely), WC will have to pay over the odds. On performance so far (and taking into account the high quality of this year's draft stock - particularly first round), I think he's worth an early 2nd round pick or mid-late 2nd round + solid player - I wouldn't offer any more. North will do their best to pump up his potential, that he was a no. 2 pick (albeit in one of the worst 1st rounds in draft history), has X-factor etc. and would be pushing hard for WC first rounder (most likely top 5) or a gun youngster + an early 2nd round.

thats just silly CCBB. it would appeal to him alot more to play back in WA then stay at a melbourne based club. if thats the case he mayh as well stay at the roos.

and i doubt that also as you said carlton should offer houlihan to west coast for kerr. u seem to say houlihan is outgoing at every possible occasion and it would take A LOT more than him to lure wells.

yes apparently he has already started contract negotiations with geelong so it would appear he is keen on stayin with the cats for another few years yet.

as for north melbournes bargaining power, i think they could demand an early second round pick as well as a young gun. i think west coast recruited really well this year with the likes of ebert, masten, selwood and players like schofield, mcnamara, mckinley and keneddy coming thru i think we could afford to give up a early second round pick(considering we will have an early first round pick!)

i think rosa is a player west coast could trade being vicotiran and still young. i like rosa but i think after being dropped earlier this season west coast may not rate him very highly.

He's expendable, but I don't think North would want an outside link man with below average disposal/hurt factor, for someone like Wells who's much more damaging and has far more potential.

Yeah im only kidding man, i just hate houlihan he give me the ****s. WCE or North wouldnt accept 50 houlihans for those players, i honestly think kerr will leave though, he just seems very unhappy! I dont think he can come to Carlton because we dont have the currence that we are willing to part with! Wells should stay a roo, i would be surprised if he leaves the club!

The going home rubbish doesn't really work with Wells. He apparantly loves Melbourne and is married to a Melbourne girl who has a very big (Italian) family in Melbourne.

I obviously hope he doesn't leave. People seem to be expecting Wells to be a 30++ possesion player and that's just not the role he playes. He generally works pretty hard and his 20 disposals will usually be of very high quality. IMO our midfield doesn't work anywhere near hard enough to involve Wells in the game or lay shephards etc. Look at the way West Coast used to protect Judd as he ran through the middle of the ground.

If he does leave North will want more than what he is worth so lets see what WCE are prepared to offer. Perhaps if Kerr really is unhappy then he could be part of a trade.

Don't leave Wellsy

Default rumour

i think i remember the rumour i heard

Ash Hansen and Matt Rosa for Wells i think WCE would need to chuck a first or second round draft pick in there too for wells not playing well right now but has had injuries and is a definate gun
