I suppose when you look at Richmond trading with the Saints they do have little to offer for a guy like Riewoldt apart from draft picks.
Sorry, but I have to correct you here. Port were in talks with Collingwood and Collingwood of course were stubborn and refused to give us what we wanted. They figured we'd eventually fold with trade week ending and take whatever measly offer they gave us but Port refused to cave in and didn't trade him. Sure, we gave away a good player for free but it sent a good message to the other clubs that Port wouldn't be anyones b!tches when it came to trading. And Stevens could have made Collingwood a very dangerous team, Carlton were and still are no threat.

Wait a second .... How do you work out Collingwood where "stubborn"?

You asked for Didak and a first round pick for a player who already had walked out on your club. Facts are you lost a quality player for nothing justified by claiming "Port wouldn't be anyones b!tches when it came to trading".

Now if you ask me Port where not only stubborn but throw in a fair amount of stupidity and you would be closer to the truth.

Hardly see how it's stupid. Collingwood weren't offering us anything worthwhile, so we didn't budge. We gave him to a struggling club who are still struggling. Meanwhile, we got a better deal than we might have with Josh Carr later on.

Maybe just a tad biased point of view their PAFC ... However, Port did what they thought was best for their club.

What one person sees as "stupid" another may view as necessary as part of a a long-term strategy.

IMHO ... Dont think Collingwood where obliged to offer Port what they wanted for the player. Facts are nobody was prepared to give Port what they wanted.

Hence why I think it was Port who where stubborn. As you admit "so we didn't budge"

It was Port who put an unreasonable price on Stevens head ... hence why I think they where stupid. Come on if 1 club thought the price was reasonable they would have paid it. But no ... 15 clubs thought Port have overpriced him.

You gave him to nobody ... the system via the Pre-season draft gave him to Carlton not you. After Stevens walked out on Port you had no control where he went. Carlton where never forced to take him ... they simply choose what they thought was the "best available" player.

All said and done I do admire Port's positive spin on this silly situation ... they were like a dog with a bone.

IMHO debatable re Josh Carr. You put a price on him ... somebody paid.

However, all said and done think we might just have to agree to disagree no hard feelings.

Sorry but I still don't see where you have corrected me! Wether Port refused what was on offer or asked for to much in their own offer Port refused to trade Stevens. Stevens likewise could of stayed with a top 8 side but chose to take his chances in the PSD and went to Carlton. I didn't say anything incorrect just didn't say it all
