Default Back Flank - The Easybeats

I think this is finalised, but I will have to look at the round 1 teams and make any necessary changes.

Back - C. Cornes, Gram, Lake, Mundy, Ryder, O'Brian, L. Hansen, S. Selwood, Pfeiffer

Midfield - Bartel, Lewis, Kerr, M. Clarke, Higgins, N. Stevens

Ruck - Cox, Leuenberger, Bailey, Cartledge

Forward - Pavlich, N. Riewoldt, J. Brown, Koschitzke, Deledio, N. Thompson, Rioli, Tippett, M. Motlop

Who are your mid bench players?

I think your ruck reserves are a clear weakness. Can't see Cartelidge or Bailey getting much game time. I understand that ruck reserves are not great for cash cows but you need one player that will get games. I would suggest Meesen from the Dees, extremely cheap and should get lots of games.

Not sure about Lake - He was close to the worst performing player in the pre season DT wise, his NAB value went below 100,000. Plenty of quality players around that price too, i'd suggest Symes

Forward line looks very solid.

Midfield looks pretty good. Not sure on Higgins but you probably know more than I do about him.

Cheers for the advice. I've got Veszpremi and Brad Ebert as my reserve mids, don't know why I forgot to put them in. My ruck is definitely a weakness, had to allow for that to maintain my strong forward line. Bailey is there for a reason though, a very strong prospect who is expected to come of age this season following several injury interrupted years. Lake is a favourite of mine since last year when he managed 27 kicks and 21 marks against the Lions. I think his vaule dropped due to injury, he'll be back round 2. Higgins I agree is a risk, but he's just there as a bit of a smokey, I think he might fire this year.

Backline needs more topliners - too many mid priced players (Gram, Lake, Mundy, Ryder, O'Brien) that will need upgrading and use up trades. I'd upgrade 2 and downgrade others to get another two of them top liners e.g. H.Shaw, P.Burgoyne

Also, Lewis is suspended for the first 2 rounds, so get rid of him.

My theory is that you don't need to necessarily have a couple of stars in each position. You just need several stars in your team, no matter where they are. So I have many in my forward line, because that's where the better players are. For example, I could trade Riewoldt for say Staker, and then upgrade Mundy to a Heath Shaw. But I believe that Mundy and Riewoldt will score me much more than Staker and Shaw. It's would just be trading so your team looks even, not to improve its overall quality.

Also, I am well aware of Lewis' suspension, but as the real game does not commence until round four, I am willing to keep him. I expect Lewis to be one of the best 4 or 5 midfielders in the game this year and do not want to waste a trade on him in two weeks time.

i agree with u in picking gram and mundy,i have myself. to give yourself every chance of winning u need to find the players from every team that are going to improve the most and try and get as many as u can in your team under the salary cap. i considered picking hodge and sitting him out till his suspension was over but changed my lineup cos a player i chose got injured, good luck

I'm not saying downgrade your forward line, just shuffling around the backs to get more guns through upgrading and downgrading various players. IMO backs and forward are two areas you can not afford to skimp on guns - as they historically don't have many 'value' players. Midfield is one area that you can afford to not select that many top price players and go for quite a few cheaper/mid tier options as a greater amount tend to rise in value.

Also you do know that your first 3 rounds scores count to your overall positioning? If you're going for league only then why not create your team after rd 2 just before most players prices go up/down for the first time.

BARTEL is the problem

he's the most expensive player in history.
there's no way he offers value, and it's killing you in other areas.
centres are the best place to find value. grab a bargain.

Yeah I'm just not liking the odds that I'll win the overall prize. Realistically. So that's why I'm not fussed about Lewis missing 2 games.
