Default Urgent Opinion Needed On My Dream Team

Hi guys,

Just joined today and love the feedback everyone gives here. Would really love some opinion of my DT before the games start in a couple hours. I've been playing since its inception and generally score between 1600 - 1900. Last year was my best year with an average of about 1750.

I've done a little more research this year so Heres my team this year.

Defenders
Bowden (Rich)
H.Shaw (Coll)
Gilbee (W.B)
Waters (W.C.E)
Surjan (Port)
Ellis (Hawks)
Nicoski (W.C.E)
Hartlett (Carl)
Myers (Ess)

Midfielders
Kerr (WCE)
Priddis (WCE)
J.Selwood (Geel)
Judd (Carl)
Griffen (W.B)
Stevens (Carl)
Armitage (St.K)
Bird (Syd)

Rucks
Cox (WCE)
Simmonds (Rich)
Leuenberger (Bris)
M.Gardiner (St.K)

Forwards
Lucas (Ess)
Thomas (Coll)
Koschitzke (St.K)
Hawkins (Geel)
Bradshaw (Bris)
Kennedy (WCE)
Tippett (Adel)
L.Hansen (Roos)
C.Rioli (Hawks)

Tips? Who looks good and who doesnt. Who haven't i got that i should. I'd love houli, but not sure who to get rid of for him.

Check to make sure Kerr is playing. I've heard rumours that he could be out.

If so, maybe you could trade him to Houli and spend the extra $$ on upgrading one of your cheaper forwards or defenders to someone like C.Cornes or Pavlich/Brown.

Pretty solid line-up but completely different to mine.
There's probably only 6-7 players in your team that are in mine so it's too difficult for me to really coment on it without recommending half the squad be changed to my players

Really, you just need to be personally confident the guns you've picked will consistantly score around 100 or more and the others in your side are the ones you believe will score the most above their current value.

Also check to make sure you've got 22 starting on the field

Thanks.

All reports here is (WA) is that Kerr is playing but its hard when the first game is on a thursday to know. He's definately been training and he's been fine doing all the drills and sprints etc.

I tried to go for a mix of guns, undervalued players and possible starting rookies. I generally use 6 trades in the first 3 rounds and grab any players that look to increase massively in value, then trade them off again when they've peaked for more consistant hire ranked players.

Worked wonders last season, but the year before didn't pay off as a few players in my team got injured in the final rounds and i ended up with no trades left.

How about Griffen? He's probably the one i know least about in my side but people say he's a bargain. Is he going to be better value then Houli?

I think this is your weakness.

Dont think you have enough big guns! I had very close to this line up last year and although the cash improvement was good failed to score big to make me competitive.

Thomas & Kosi average mid 50"s Hawkins is still young averages just below 50 in 9-10 games. Kennedy similar average to Hawkins.

I have only got on here after the fact - but for future reference I would also add to that already posted that you probably have too much $ on the Ruck bench. 4th ruck could have been used on West, Meesen, Deluca or similar club 3rd ruckmen. Then use that freed $ to upgrade someone. I have found in previous seasons it is harder to get the rookies playing a lot in the forward positions - bit easier in defence & midfield. So a little more $ might need spending there to try and get that reasonably solid, because not a lot of young players will play a lot and get decent points up forward.

Thanks for all your opinion.

The plan was to see who got named and then change my team around. I planned to trade L.Hansen for N.Brown (Collingwood) and maybe a Midfielder for Houli, and also get rid of Luenberger and pump some cash into foward line. However, i found out the hard way trying to get on the afl site after the teams are named on a thursday is bloody impossible and got locked out before i could change.

At least value's wont change for 3 weeks, so ill at least get a chance to update my team without too much of a loss.

I know i spent a bit on ruck, however i could not leave Gardiner out of my team at the price he was at. I'm hoping he performs well and i can either trade him or symmonds after 3 rounds for a profit and then see which fowards are firing and upgrade with the extra funds i've obtained. I'm actually hoping to do that with a few players (Bird, Armitage, Tippett etc).

This year with Good Friday causing problems was worse than usual. Normally it would be just the 3 Sunday games that you wouldn't be 100% sure of the teams - but at least you'd have the extended bench for the last 3 Sunday games. There would be far less teams finalised at the last minute - but always worth having your team 97% finalised (with Capt, VC, Emerg) in in case the logjam occurs.

Yeah every year i've had mine sorted by lunch time so i didn't really think about it until it happened.

Oh well Tippett and Rioli are both playing so im pretty happy in the end. Would have really only liked to trade L.Hansen for N.Brown and got Houli in there but i can always do that after round 1.

I was going to bring in N.Brown for Hansen as well as two other minor defender changes, but he only got 35, so wouldn't have cost me much to have the logjam upset last minute changes due to team lists coming in. At least it meant my team didn't get wiped or anything).
