It's one week away from talkingfootball's league season starting up...the jostling for positions is nearly over, and the squads should be close to settled.
Its time for the first weekly update.....

Backs
Cornes-Shaw-Milburn-Guerra-Mattner-Symes-Proud
Selwood/Hansen

I'm relativley happy with the backs so far, the only regret is picking guerra ahead of gilbee but theres time for that. A concern is hansen not getting a look in as yet, but selwood comes in for his first game this week so fingers crossed he holds his spot. Not alot of rookie defenders around as yet anyway.

Mids
Cross-Salopek-Murphy-Embley-Houli-Palmer
Dempsay/McNamara

Again quite happy with the mids as well, most have been scoring between 80-110, and the rookies should all rise in value soon. The injury to dempsay is a concern, and mcnamara seems to be a perm emergency for the eagles, but he will get his turn, or else ill trade for ebert if the need arises.

Rucks
Cox-Symmonds
meesen/white

Rucks have been performing well, with cox dominating and symmonds as expected. The bench is not playing but there isnt a lot out there in rookie rucks, if an injury comes ill deal with it.

Forwards
Brown-Deledio-Headland-Porplyzia-Burton-Hall-Hill
Gamble/Rioli

Generally happy with the forward pack, some bargains are performing well and the kids are all in for huge price rises.

So with 1 week until the real stuff starts i've used 3 trades and settled on a line up i'm happy with until the cash cows start to work. Got 110.000 in the bank and am on a score of 3674, sitting 1357 overall. After the debarcle of the internet crash on opening night when we couldnt do final trades, its turned out not too bad.

Will be a tough first game vs the high flying RAVS XXII...bring it on

After 2 rounds the side is sitting undefeated, but has had 2 hard fought victories, a tough test this week is guaranteed against grays_anatomy who is performing well.

It has been a nervy start for most with stars under performing and kids going well, im fairly happy with my side but there are 2 situations that are killing me right now. I'm getting a donut in defence because selwood/proud/hansen are not playing.....and my midfield bench of dempsay/mcnamara isnt playing regularly, or are injured....i need their prices to start rising.

Backs
Cornes- Season keeper, worth every cent
Shaw- Season keeper, may have to fight tags soon tho i fear
Milburn- slightly under performing but should be a season keeper
Guerra- Another keeper who needs to fight off tags a bit now i think
Mattner- Good value,i think will score well at scg,be hot and cold elsewhere
Symes- Will be a keeper, settling in well now
Selwood-i think he will get his spot back off nikoski,i need him on my ground until upgrade.
Proud- needs to regain his spot and rise in value
Hansen- ive waited this long,im too stubborn to axe him.

Mids
Cross-Season keeper, ever dependable,just needs to handball less
Murphy-Suprise value for me, may end up a 100 ave season keeper
Embley- Hot and cold, lets see how he goes after illness
Salopek-Another in the murphy mould, very consistant
Houli- Great value, gets loads of stats,doing a great job until upgrade
Palmer- Ditto above
Dempsay-scored well before injury, should be back soon to rise in value
McNamara-played one game, and should get more while wce struggle

Rucks
Cox-Doing well as expected, worth every cent
Simmonds- great value, as everyong knows
Kruezer- traded him in as cover, seems to have edged out hampson
Meesen-hoped he would play after johnson inj but jamar beat him.

Fwd
Brown-Hot and cold, but im not concerned,keeper & end with a 90 ave imo
Burton-great value, usually around 80-110.
Deledio- seems every week he struggles for pts up forward then has 10 minutes a quarter in the middle and redeems himself..keeper
Porplyzia-super value as we all know
Headland-im doubting his desire to be an afl star, will go for pav when the price is right.
Bradshaw-traded in for hall, ive got high hopes.
Hill-i think he has played he's best games already, wait for the price peak then cash him in
Rioli-unlike hill i think he will be a season long performer and keep the spot on my ground.
Gamble-good bench back up and rising well in value.

The side is sitting 1213, and has been roughly inbetween 1000 and 1250 since the opening day, very consistant, but i cant seem to find the big week to make a big jump forward.

Hopefully the afl coaches do the right thing this week and play selwood, proud, hansen, mcnamara, and meesen!

with 150k in the bank and the hill cash in imminent, ill look to bring pav in for headland and bowden/gilbee/someone in for a back bench..then the remaining 15 trades for injuries...which there seem to be loads of this year!
