Default your opinion on...

I am ranked 585 overall in 2nd year DT...need an opinion on:

Brent Stanton and Steve Johnson

I have both these guys in my team, Stanton had a ripper against Geelong (DT points) but a very ugly first round with Kangaroos. Will he be a standout player or should I trade him for J.Corey, D.Swan or G.Ablett or perhaps go for $$$ in J.Geary, C.Bird, T.Tuck before price rise???

Steve Johnson has underperformed so far this year, giving me doubts about his point scoring ability...the stats can't be shared equally amongst all the Geelong players (Bartel, Ablett, Corey, Chapman, Milburn, Kelly?, Stokes??, Gamble??? and others) and I feel that it might not be his year to shine {I may be very wrong}...alternatives I am thinking N.Reiwoldt, P.Chapman, S.Grant (?), B.Johnson or go for $$$ in J.Hill or C.Stokes??? (already have Gamble & Rioli)

The fact that after this round that prices start changing makes me nervous and makes me feel like I should trade...overall I am quite happy with my team except for Stanton rd1, S.Johnson rd1+2 and P.Stewart rd2...and the mind games are starting to play...to trade or not to trade (still have all 20)

the way I see it one of five things may happen in my team tomorrow depending on a couple things (one being any replies to this thread) the other being the selection of Port's interchange bench...(P.Stewart) if he is playing then I might keep him for $$$ after his poor 9 points against swans

Options:
- do nothing...sit back and either be v.happy or v.dissappointed with not taking the chance to trade.

-trade both Stanton and Johnson for big guns (probably J.Corey and Reiwoldt/Chapman)

-trade both Stanton and Johnson for reliable Cash cows (probably Geary/Tuck and Hill)

-trade both Stanton and Johnson for a 1 big gun and 1 cashcow

-P.Stewart trade for J.Hill

-endless combinations but the above are most likely!

give me a reason not to trade one of Johnson or Stanton!

Stanton had one bad round. He will still average around 100 ppg. No rookie is gonna give you that. And you' be taking a massive punt on which big gun to pick who won't get injured and will get many more points than Stanton. Keep Stanton unless he gets injured!!
Don't get Geelong players was my opinion at the start of the year. They are overpriced and as you said can't all get high scores every week. Steve Johnson is definitely in that category, but trading him for a complete rookie who has had a cpl of good games (e.g. Hill) seems a mistake. These are only 2 games, a lot of players have a really good debut or first 2/3 games then fade away significantly as the opposition gives them more respect and attention.

I'm in the same boat with Johnson. Worried that last season was the best he can produce and seriously looking at trading him out this week.

Stanton is a pretty good pick in my opinion. He's not in my team because had other priorities but was heavily considered. I'd keep him.

If you're going to trade Johnson there's a couple of options...
1) a "sideways trade". trade him for someone you're likely to keep for the season otherwise this trade will cost you more trades later.
2) Trade for a cash cow kid if you're confident he can get you some good scores and cash over the next 5-6 weeks or so and possibly use the extra cash to upgrade a player you're worried about to a keeper. The second part of this trade would be done later anyway so doesn't really cost you a trade and will help you sleep better as long as you're confident your young forwards are reliable.

Good luck with whatever you do

ended up getting Josh Hill for Steve Johnson...got stacks of cash now!

Hill played Brilliantly tonight against Saints (99points) his Price is gonna Sky-rocket!!! he might even be worth keeping till the very end if he keeps this up!

I'm not laughing hard yet...waiting and hoping Steve Johnson proves he wasnt worth it...or better yet gets injured (I dont wish him bad...hope he does alright)
