Default Trade Advice Required

Def - C. Cornes, H. Shaw, M. Mattner, T. Kennelly, T. Harley, J. Roughead, L. Gilbee EMG: Pffiefer and Proud

Mid - M. Murphy, A. Carrazo, C. Judd, N. Stevens, R. Palmer, N. Van Berlo EMG: Dempsey and Ebert

Ruck - Kruezer and Simmonds EMG: Meesen and West

Forw - Chapman, Hill, Burton, Pavlich, Rioli, Hawkins, Brown EMG: Jetta and Hansen

After a shocking showing this week, I feel some major changes are required.
I have 230K in the bank, and want to trade Jetta for Franklin.
Then I want to trade Hill for Tippet and use the remaining cash to upgrade Roughead to King.

Any thoughts?

hill to tippett is just a stupid trade.

tippett isnt gona get much over 50 with an average score of 39. however hill should be a keeper, with an average score of 75. expect that to stay the same(it could drop a little lower) but should be in your starting lineup.

id suggest upgrading hawkins - tippett if you really want to make a trade but i wouldnt do it, i see it as a waste.

also, king has increased massively in price!! it wouldnt make sense to get him as of now considering he started the season at only 300K

Yeah, I need some cash to upgrade Roughead to somebody more consistent though.
So would trading Hawkins for Tippett be better? I'm looking at Tippet cause even though won't score much, he is a cheap bench player that is likely to get a game. That would leave me with a forward line of Burton, Pav, JB, Rioli, Hill, Franklin and Chapman, and Hansen and Tippet on the bench.

And can you suggest any consistent defenders in the 350K price range?

Some good cheapish defenders:
Symes(310k) - Has already gone up in price but will still make money. Has a breakeven score this week of -1 so now's the time to jump on board
Johncock(306k) - Pretty reliable defender though he won't get the same ammount of 100+scores as Symes
Gilbee(311k) - Price will go down again this week. Good value
Newman(333k) - Tiger defender who gets a run in the midfield. Classy player who won't have too many bad games

Hill has peaked in my opinion. Hawkins hasn't. The Tippett trade isn't that horrible but would you have to confidence to start him if someone in your starting lineup got injured for 1 week? If not, then it's better taking a punt on a cheaper player, perhaps Jake Edwards.

Thanks for that info PAFC.

I've decided to go with Symes, but I'm not sure whether to upgrade Harley or Roughead. Any thoughts?

And what are your thoughts on Ben McKinley? He's looked impressive in the games I've seen him play; he was the only one to stand up to Sydney. Is he worth trading in Hill for to free up some cash? He'd definitely be on the bench, and despite costing a little more than some others, I wouldn't feel so bad if he had to start.

inside info on Shane Valenti (72k rookie)
will be promoted to the senior list in place of David Neitz (long-term injury)
and wouldn't be too far off a game.
stats were good in preseason.

Harley is not a stats player. he needs to be upgraded.

I'd only trade Hill for a rookie at the moment. I'm not covinced McKinely will consistently score that much higher than Hill and you won't be making much cash.

Melbourne still have forward options in Bate, Newton and Maric that may be ahead of Valenti at the moment.

The other options for Melbourne will be to keep Wonaeamirri on the senior list when Grimes comes back from his stint on the LTI list. Not sure when that is due to happen - though may be soon.
