Thanks for the scoop on Port Adel, PAFC.

Travis Boak #5 draft pick (in the superdraft) is an interesting one.
I'm still trying to work out if he'll be in the best 22. You say, 'No, but will play most games'. But anyone who got picked before Selwood (no.7) has got to be bloody good in my book, so we'll see how he goes on the weekend.
David Rodan has got my attention. I've heard he's really impressed everyone at his new club. However, i don't like the prospect of him being a 'centre'. Hopefully, he is a 'forward'.
PAFC & PeterFitz, are you really prepared to pay all that money for Kane Cornes? He will most certainly be the highest-price-centre in the game, and i believe the best place to save money is in the 'centres'. I accept he has a great history (great stats, never misses games, makes an excellent captain), but maybe we can bring him in (and Scotty West) later in the season when they cheapen up.
ALIG, i'm afraid Brock McLean had his breakthrough season last year (ave. 90+). He didn't quite play every game, but his price will be through the roof. Closer to 400k, rather than 300k. And speaking of Moloney, he didn't play in their NAB Cup game, and i'm concerned his fitness isn't up to scratch. I'm sure a fully fit Moloney is in their best 22, but perhaps he isn't 100% right now. We need to find out more before rd1.

I'm seriously considering Kane Cornes and/or Bruce Tippaz. I'll make a definite decision once DT opens and I can see if I can find a good bunch of players that will also allow me to spend $ on these 2.

I really want a captain from the start who'll average 100+. I think these guys will do that. If you want to win it's important to have atleast 10 players who'll average 90+ (too optimistic?) in your original 30 and go on to play the whole season though so I'll have to weigh things up before I include them.

I won't be locking anyone in my team until I can start actually putting the team together once DT opens.

Cam Bruce would make perfect sense if he was a 'forward' (25% chance) or 'back' (1% chance), but i have a feeling he'll be moved off to the 'centres'. He's basically become the new Nigel Lappin, averaging 100+ pts. But i've got a very strong theory for not blowing money on centres because there's too much VFM (value for money) amongst cheap to midranged players.
At this stage, i'm thinking Dean Cox as my captain (and most expensive player), especially if that new 'rucks' rule goes ahead like Viddle said.
8-10 players sounds about right for your "expensive" members of your squad. Stick to players with good history because you need to rely on them for 22 games.
This year, i am going to try avoiding the really high-price tags, and concentrate more on the guys 3/4 of the way up (expensive, but not too much). I want to build a strong VFM team which requires less enhancements than other dreamteams. That way, i can have a few trades left towards the end of the year.

I'm happy to put Gibbs as a starting midfielder if that means I can spend big on a good captain. I get very attached to players that do well for me and I had K.Cornes as captain all of last year and he never let me down.

And Boak should get a game this week. Motlop has been dropped for missing training and I think there's a larger bench cause of the heat in Darwin.

i think Viddle was referring to him "stats-wise", and i am of agreement.

Marc Murphy is turning into a real ball-magnet. I can't compare him to that.
Maybe, Bryce Gibbs will follow the Brett Deledio mould (more exciting, but less stats)
I believe it's a good idea to start 1 of the min. wage centres for good financial purposes, and i'm sure you can't go wrong with Gibbs, but i've got my eyes firmly on Joel Selwood. He impressed me again on the weekend, and is showing real signs of ball-magnetism.

Gibbs was getting 35 possies a a few goals a game for the senior Glenelg side at 17.. .I hardly think that cl***es him as a less stat player.

Joel Selwood is nothing, I saw him on the weekend, was far from impressed.

Any thoughts on Bachar Houli from the dons? He has starred in our nab cup loss and nab challenge win and may be a surprise starter for round 1. It's pretty hard to pick youngsters yet as they are all being tried in the NAB cup for the future not necessarilly the present!
