Default Afl dream team 2009 rookies - Defenders

I know this is an area where many people are struggling in 2009.

My best suggestion would be strongly consider the team that finished 2008 near the bottom of the ladder for your best candidates ie Melbourne, West Coast, Fremantle, Port etc

Lets take Melbourne as an example ..

1/ Kyle Cheney - Tough little red-head back pocket type who has impressed in the pre-season. If Matthew Whelan continues his dreaded run of injuries Cheney could easily be given the nod.

2/ Tom McNamara - Currently injured would not expect to see him even play for Casey Scorpions till round 4ish

Fremantle

3/ Nick Suban - Injured in practice match against Blues. However, should see game time early in 2009 was quite impressive prior to that.

4/ Greg Broughton - Upgraded off rookie list (always means something), mature age rookie that has a body & brain to fill some sort of role in Fremantle backline.

etc ... think you get the idea. Do your research on rookies and you wont regret it.

Alex Rance also looks to be a good player, a lot of disposals.
