Default Strategy - How do you pick your fantasy football team?

i know from talking to a few mates there are some different ways that they make their teams.

one guy goes from back to mid to ruck to fwds picking the best player possible in each category one at a time until his cap is exceeded...then goes back and trades away one player at a time for cheaper ones until it fits

another picks his subs first then 2 guns in each possie and fills the rest with what he can

personally myself i draw up the team of guns i want to have by rd 22 on a piece of paper....then i pick my subs first, pick my smokies/cashcows for each catergory then fill in the rest with as many of the gun 22 i can..usually loading the backs more and using the mid priced midfielders, because a 300k mid is still able to score high, but the same cost in the fwds or backs dont really.

anyhow, do you have any other sure fire methods you use?

p.s seeing the game hasnt started yet i need to talk about something!

My first pick this year was Cox, I then did my ruck bench picked my 2nd Ruck. Next I filled my benches and 7th defender/forward sixth mid from the rookies and cheapies, next I picked 2 guns in each spot and worked out the average price to fill the other spots with which i did from mids (skimped a bit) which meant I could afford another top forward and backs as well as some mid-tiers.

last year, i picked too many players priced 200-300k which ultimately cost me. too many of them required upgrades by season's end, which is a waste of trades.

this year, i'm planning to cut back on those guys and just go for "big gun" + "min wager". i want to get more players who could last the entire season.

Is that because you won't be around to trade or a genuine new strategy?

No. genuine new strategy.

i can always get someone like you to manage my team (if i look winning)

ill be starting from the bottom priced players up, looking for young guys that will play games from round 1. making sure i pick undervalued players who should have big years and or play in higher scoring positions to last year. i will only be picking 1 big gun in my whole team to make captain as i think they are all overvalued and will be able to trade for them at a cheaper price throughout the year. gonna keep a large reserve in my salary cap for trades and use my cash cows to hopefully trade up to as many guns as possible. willing to sacrafice the first few rounds for this
