Rd1 of NAB Cup is complete. Really good signs from the following players:
Ben Hudson - collected 19 possessions
Alwyn Davey - exciting player, 99% chance for rd1
Joel Selwood - roughly 20 possessions, could win a brownlow one day
Gary Ablett jr - played in the midfield, looks set to enhance his stats
Grant Birchall - 23 possessions, and close to best-on-ground
Lance Franklin - matchwinning 5 goal performance, clearly best-on-ground
Lindsay Thomas - 4 goals, really exciting small forward, 100% chance for rd1
Corey Jones - about 25 possessions and 3 goals (i think), best-on-ground
Graham Polak - settled in beautifully, and got plenty of stats
Xavier Clarke - roughly 20 possessions, displayed his ability too
Ted Richards - excellent signs in the forwardline, he pushes a long way up the ground (similar to Robert Murphy)
Ryan Griffen - just about best-on-ground, he's arrived
Andrew McDougall - 19 possessions from CHF, could be the recruit of the season
*i'm a little uncertain about the McDougall price tag. he may be more expensive than i first thought. but i will keep an eye on him, nevertheless

Let's see who DIDN'T impress:
Jarrad Waite - i actually thought he was best-on-ground, playing CHB (that's a disaster!)
Dustin Fletcher - had good possession, but stayed mostly at CHB. i think he will be limited this year.
Brad Miller - 4 possessions, worst-on-ground, continues to tease everyone.
Danny Meyer - 4 possessions 1 goal, obviously not the next Salopek!
Adam Selwood - 4 possessions, and now we know JOEL is the correct Selwood brother to buy!

Great analysis all-round Tippaz!

I as a bit disappointed with the number of posessions from Waite and Fletcher too but I'll still be watching them closely in the next couple of weeks. I think they're both a good chance of getting a lot more of the ball playing at half back. Hopefully they'll both get 20+ touches this week.

Alwyn Davey? Exciting yes, Inconsistent and not up to AFL level? Yes! I won't be picking him at all.

Looks like I'll be looking into your textbooks to get more help this year!

justing reading over my early season prospects.

i reckon i nailed a fair few good bargains. it's such a shame they gave us so much money to play with because most of my work went to waste.

anyway, i was thinking of writing up something similar after rd2 on "early season movers". i'll mainly be looking at the more expensive players (who are still underpriced, of course). Daniel Kerr is a perfect example. Also, it will include a few bargain-based option who are around min. wage.

i haven't written anything as yet. mainly just keeping mental notes of eye-catching players. still trying to work out each team's actual starting lineups.

(i don't think i'll be writing another 7000 words this time)
