Players in both DT and SC change value after they have played 3 matches for the year and every game they play after that.

There is a formula you can use to try and roughly predict a players new price. More info about it here.

yes.

that means the best window to make a trade is after the conslusion of rd2 (just before price-rise).

sorry for mentioning this a second time.
but if you were planning 2 trades TF, i would make them in that week. not this week.

Hi Tippaz

But what if I think I've made 3 glaring mistakes as an example ... if i wait till then after round 2 then it costs me money.

well, i just checked through your afl.com dreamteam and i couldn't find any "glaring mistakes". 28 out of 30 played - you've got to be happy with that. i assume you were just disappointed in a handful of low scoring players.
try to direct your trades towards the big guns. obviously, the so-called "big guns" (like Brad Johnson) are very expensive. i wouldn't refer to the likes of Rodan and Adcock "big guns". they are excellent starting points though, set for an early price-rise, and have the potential to carry you through the early parts of the season. but eventually, they will most likely require another upgrade. i don't like the idea of trading-in players without the intention of keeping them for the entire year. 2 trades (at the end of rd2) is more than enough IMO. some people won't even make early trades at alll!

try not to worry about prices so much. they can be misleading. it the points you're after, not the money. and there is just as much chance of a star player cheapening up (like Jonathon Brown). that can give you a window to pounce. and remember, some of your decent reserve picks are going up too. the money is on the way. when the time is right - you can sell your 82k Ellis or Jetta for 182k. then, simply bring in another 82k player set for a price-rise. Suddenly, there's 100k on hand - and it's time to upgrade S.Welsh to (hopefully) a much cheaper 300k Matthew Pavlich. Your team will be a powerhouse in no time.

so what were your biggest concerns?, as a matter of interest.

let me guess
- you picked J.Brown instead of B.Johnson (don't worry about that, J.Brown is a star)
- you picked Goodes instead of West (not to worry, Goodes is a top-liner)
- you missed out on Adcock (that can easily be fixed next week)
- you thought Darcy/Ryder were excessive reserves (that can be fixed next week too)
- you were disappointed by S.Welsh and Roughead getting low scores (don't panic! it was only 1 game, and not a true reflection of their pointscoring ability)
- perhaps you're worried about Welsh and Roughead experiencing price-drop (don't worry, it takes a lot more than 1 week to drop 100k. the decline will most likely be a slow and steady process. i would expect those players to hold their prices anyway)

I feel I need to get Adcock and Rodan In ... To try and take advantage of prices rises. I was thinking

Roughead & King (Out) - Adcock & Rodan In ...

it's probably safer to target 1 of the 2.
Adcock is the better option IMO.

Rodan is unfavourably misclassified and just doesn't stand a chance against the top 'centres' (like West). He would need to produce a Didak-like season to average 80-85. Won't happen. Rodan was a great starting pick, but i wouldn't rate him as a worthy trade. His inevitable price rise is the only good reason to bring him in now. Remember - you're after points not money.
I reckon Adcock will push towards the top 10-20 backs (if he can play the 22 games). As long as his body holds up, i think he can actually be a season keeper. This is the trade you're looking for! Keep a close eye on him in rd2.

I reckon this would be a good move for you (after rd2 is complete):
- Luke Darcy for Jonathon Griffin
- Beau Wilkes for Jed Adcock

hopefully that's affordable.
Wilkes is only a rookie, and i think he'll struggle to get a game. wasn't a very good selection imo
everyone's got J.Griffin. he is the only min. wage ruck getting a game. he comes with a strong recommendation. and you don't really need all those rucks. keep your eye on Griffin this week aswell.
