Slime is an unknown quantity at this point
Default John Meesen Crows Ruckman

Meesen, 21, has chosen Melbourne as his new club in a much-expected return to Victoria after two seasons at West Lakes. Why are the Mighty Blues not chasing this bloke. We need a ruckman and he would be a nice fit.

Meesen becomes a Demon

MELBOURNEfc has today secured the services of John Meesen, after a trade was done to get the 201cm ruckman to the Club.

Melbourne exchanged its third round selection (Pick 37) to Adelaide for John Meesen on Thursday morning.

Originally from the Geelong Falcons, Meesen was a first round selection (Pick 8) in the 2004 National Draft. The 21 year-old spent three seasons at Adelaide, and developed his game strongly for Norwood in the SANFL.

General Manager of Recruiting and List Management Craig Cameron told melbournefc.com.au, “We are very pleased that we were able to strike a deal to get John to join the Club. John is an outstanding runner and at only 21 years of age, has plenty of potential to become a long term player with the Melbourne Football Club.”

John Meesen was excited after signing the final paper work telling melbournefc.com.au ´”I am really thrilled to be joining the Melbourne Football Club and can’t wait to get stuck into pre-season training on October 31.”

Good pick up by Melbourne. Puts alot of pressure on the other Melbourne rucks(Jamar, P.Johnson) to lift their game at the very least. Meesen showed alot more promise this year after he got fit following a bad run with injuries. Was pick 8 for Adelaide in 04 and they put 3 years of development into him. A much better prospect than getting a ruckman with 37 in a shallow draft and trying to develop him.

Looks like a reasonable pragmatic decision by the Demons. Keeps pick 3 in PSD live for us. At 20 and 200cm you would think his best football is all in-front of him. I'm happy

The Crows were ripped off by the Demons, and seriously the whole process is amassed with faults. The AFL need to put right, this guy will be a good player probably better than J. White and Freo was ripped off when they lost him.
