Default Henry Playfair

Has become the next Geelong reject to go the Swans. He has big shoes to fill with the talented David Spriggs and Paul Chambers having gone before him.

Nice recruiting Roosy

Quote:
The Swans last night completed their trade week dealing by securing Geelong forward Henry Playfair and finalising the deal that will send premiership forward Adam Schneider and half-back Sean Dempster from Sydney to St Kilda.
The Swans will swap their third-round draft pick (No.44) for the 24-year-old Playfair, who played one game for the talent-laden Cats this season.
Geelong have been eager to offload some of the experienced players who did not make their premiership team, to alleviate salary cap pressure and make room for draftees. Swans coach Paul Roos said the 198cm Playfair would help provide support for marking forwards Barry Hall and Ryan O'Keefe.
Playfair, from Holbrook in the Riverina, attended Shore School with Swans defender Lewis Roberts-Thomson. The pair played together with the NSW/ACT Rams under-18s.
Despite initial reluctance, the popular Schneider yesterday agreed to be traded to St Kilda with Dempster for the Saints' second draft pick (No.26). Dempster was more eager to join former Swans assistant coach Ross Lyon at Moorabbin, believing he will get more game time.
"It's a difficult decision and Schneids wanted to think it over, but he's handled it well and the important thing is that, as premiership players, both of them feel like they can come back to the club at some stage," Roos said.
Roos said the Swans would not make any more deals in today's frantic final hours of trading, meaning they will retain their first national draft pick (No.11) and have traded up in the second round from No.28 (given to Adelaide for Martin Mattner) to No.26. Many observers believe this year's draft is more shallow than in recent years, with most of the best talent contained in the top 25.

On the s**** heap with the rest of the Swans **** pickups.

I honestly cannot believe how badly Roo's messed up this trade week. St.Kilda managed to get Steven King and Charlie Gradiner for nothing - they probably weren't going to use pick 90 and somehow Roo's still gives them a decent pick for Playfair? Mark Thompson must be laughing. Not to mention the fact that they got rid of two decent young players, and ones with run. Surely they didn't have to offload both Schneider and Dempster for a mid 2nd pick in a draft with no depth?

i think they want him to play CHB. he might be worth a punt. but pick 44 - that was silly.

Stkilda duded Geelong I think Geelong should have got a higher pick for just king. But you guys did well Playfair is better than Gardner he can play up back and forward. I think with him the best is yet to come.
