Default Shaun Grigg Trade Rumours

The Carlton Football Club can confirm that Shaun Grigg’s management today informed the Club that he wished to be traded during the upcoming exchange period.

“We are disappointed with Shaun’s request to seek opportunities elsewhere in 2011.

“The Club will now pursue all options during the exchange period to ensure the best possible outcome for the Carlton Football Club,” General Manager Football Operations Steven Icke said.

Grigg, 22, has played 43 games for Carlton since being taken as a 2nd Round selection (19th overall) in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft. He was recruited to the Club from Redan via the North Ballarat Under 18’s.carltonfc.com.au

Talk is Tigerland. Must confess this is one rumour I like for the Tigers. Looks like a perfect target for them. Cant see him being overly expensive in trade value and they would appear to hold all the cards.

Sounds like he could be an obvious replacement for Thursfield.

Could be one of those perfect situations where both clubs have a win. Doesn't happen often enough IMO

Yeah I'm not sure both clubs will win. I have a feeling in my gut Carlton will want to get a third team involved here to keep the Tigers honest. I have this suspicion in will come Adelaide or somebody-else.

Maybe a Jacobs, Griggs, Player X type trade or picks.

The word is Carlton will get Andrew Collins I Think This may not be too bad for Carlton May almost be a win-win for both clubs

Totally agree, although I'm a little surprised that with Thornton going they didn't consider Thursfield, or at least didn't appear to.

Will Collins actually get a game for Carlton?
His 184 cm and 72 kg not that right size forward for us

I'm not sure Andrew Collins is the answer.

Personally I would be looking at Mitch Morton or a trade pick b4 Collins.

Considering rumours say Grigg has been offered 1mil over 3 years by Richmond it would be interesting to see what Richmond pay Collins because at the end of the day that's how a club ranks a player - by the amount of money they pay him or in some cases her!!!

As far as Thursfield goes the Media reported that Brett Ratten fell out of his chair when Craig Cameron suggested a strait swap - as he should - Thursfield is a Class C Defender

Carltons best chance in my opinion is too push him towards GC
However must admit Richmond hold all the aces in this 1 (unlike the Sam Jacobs Saga)

At the end of the day I am happy for Grigg to go for Free, invest in youth and put the money we save into a better offer for Sam Jacobs!!!
