Default Alwyn Davey - Essendon Bombers

According to Matty Lloyd "I think Alwyn Davey (younger brother of Melbourne's Aaron) is one who has slotted into the forward pocket at this early stage."

However, what do you think ... Will he be as effective as his brother?

Sorry but I don't think so!

i don't think so either.

however, alwyn is already 22yrs old. and we all know his brother was quite the late starter. i'm sure alwyn's got the same sort of pace, but i'm doubtful over the same poise and skill as Aaron.
either way, Alwyn is going to be on my "hot prospects" list, so we have to watch him closely in the NAB Cup.

Alwynn has the making to be every bit the league footballer his brother has become but at a much more rapid rate. He has the same uptempto workrate off the ball, gets plenty of it and given a go will slot his fair share of goals. The only doubt in my mind is wether or not he can combine his explosive forward talents into a classy midfielder like his brother.

He's not bad, but not as good as his brother and probably just on par for AFL standard, seen it first hand at SANFL level for South.

His defensive pressure will be a great bonus for the bombers. The bombers had a fair bit of the ball last year but let other teams run away with the ball too easily when it was turned over.
If Davey can keep the work-rate going he'll develop into a very good player.

I think he'll play the whole season in the AFL if his effort doesn't drop off.

I thin that if the first 5 rounds have proved anything it's that Alwyn is every bit as quick, classy and hungry as Aaron and his form this year has been far better!

Too right Ali-G, judging by the start to this season Alwyn has had a great start his career while Aaron is struggling to get some form going. I think that Alwyn will be just as good as Aaron.

Alwyn pretty much as mirrored Aarons start. How about the goal he kicked on weekend dashing out from the centre square. Still find it hard to believe that he was overlooked in the draft. Can't believe Melbourne didn't pick him up with a late pick considering Aarons knowledge of him. Imagine the 2 Davey's chasing defenders down. They would be almost impossible to contain at the feet of Neitz and Roberston.

Based on his first 6 weeks, he is going to feature very high for the Rising Star this year. Aaron came second behind Jared Rivers in his debut season.

A few missed points there Clocktower, firstly he wasnt overlooked in the draft we used our secodn selection on him, secondly he is to old to win the rising star award (watch out for Ryder though).

Alwyn Davies is every bit as exciting as his brother. He certainly has opposition backmen thinking twice about where he is, causing them to panic a little can create many turnovers, as we have seen.
