Default Ian Stewart

Ian Stewart - Played in the '66 GF and won the Brownlow for that year as well as in '65 and '71 -one of four to win three Brownlows- St Kilda B & F in '64 and '66 and All-Australian in '66. He must of had a ripping season in '66 with a quadriple-whammy (All-Aust,GF,B & F,Brownlow). Moved to Richmond in 1971 in a trade for Billy Barrot. This was a major breakthrough in the trading in the AFL because this was uncharted territory in Aussie Football!

yep, not too hard to believe he was named in the "centre" in the team of the century.

although he was way before my time, i'd probably rate him as the best midfielder of all time.
4 Brownlows is no fluke.
from the old photos he appears a very lightish player. but he could get the ball, read the play, and had a really precise kick.
just imagine his dreamteam status... he would've been, like... everyone's captain.

3 Brownlows as it was 2 with St.Kilda and 1 with Richmond in 1972 or 1973 I think if my memory serves me correctly.

Ian Stewart was a brilliant footballer, but my recollection was only when he was with Richmond. I guess he was at the peak of his game when he crossed to Richmond. Probably not a lot different to the trade of Judd to Carlton, although I think that Ian Stewart was about 27 when he crossed to Richmond.
