Default Adelaide - The Lay of the Year

At this stage Adelaide is on the second line of betting in most sporting bookermakers odds.

This not only means that they are considered a good chance to win the Premiership, but also a good chance to play off in the Grand Final in 2007.

Well, not by my calculations.

Adelaide are my lay of the year!

I believe that Adelaide will finish somewhere between 5th and 8th at best!

There are many other teams at more favorable odds to take out the flag as well as making the top 8 and I would urge you to consider these before investing any money on Adelaide to win this years premiership.

Agree with you here. Whilst their midfield is very good, the core is ageing, and injuries start to creep in. There are some good youngsters, but not yet in the very good class of Goodwin, Roo and Edwards. And the forward line is suspect, good when given the space to play, but once delivery from the midfield slows down, they don't have anyone really capable of contesting in the air consistently to give them a chance at winning the ball in the fifty. Will be top 8 and close to the 4 but short of the final game in September.

IMHO ... The jury is out on the Crows. If the can show some early season form you can never write them off.

Football Park is one hell of a scary place for opposition teams and fans alike.

Footy Park is only scary if you are playing Port, because you don't know what their fans are going to throw at you. I remember going to a game a few years ago where I, an 18 year old at the time, almost had a blue with a guy infront who wouldn't stop swearing. Daunting as it is.. I'd say that a Packed Telstra DOme would be more daunting.

Great to have the footy back is all i can say.

My 2 lays for the year at this stage:

Adelaide - I agree with whats already been said, don't think they can improve on last year, there kids are still a few years away and i doubt there senior group can go better then last year, there fwd line is still of a concern and i think they are a good lay on the 2nd line of markets.

W.Bulldogs - This may come to a surprise for some but i think they are terrible odds esp for the top 4 at this stage, there has to be some concern with the stars coming back from injury, West and grant are another year older and there defence is still suspect, think they will prob squeeze in the 8 but with such hype from bookies and the general public i feel esp early on they may come up alot shorter then they should be and might be worth taking on.

cheers della!

the bad bet i had was kangs for the spoon, was looking after rnd 3 but wow didnt c theat kind of form comin g, thought at $4.00 early in the year they were a great spoon bet.
