Travis Johnstone - Brisbane Lions

Travis Johnstone will line up for his 11th season as a key midfielder for the Brisbane Lions.

What is the feeling from all those Brisbane supporters of how Travis Johnstone will fare up in Brisbane for the 2008 season?

Will he have his best year yet in trying to prove something to the AFL community?

i'm a big fan of Travis Johnstone, and i feel this trade is going to work very well for him.

already, i can see him stepping straight into Brisbane's onball brigade with Black/Johnstone/Power. taggers should go to Simon Black. this will help Travis Johnstone immensely since he was always tagged out of games at Melbourne.

and i recently found out his grandfather (Norman Johnstone... i think) is a former B&F winner of Fitzroy sometime in the 1940s. and i think i recall reading that he was in the Fitzroy team of the century.
i think it's good to have players (like Jon Brown, Trav Johnstone) representing old Fitzroy.

his penetrating long kicks ought to be complemented by Brown/Bradshaw in the forwardline.

This move will no doubt be great for him because he won't get targeted / tagged by opposition clubs at all, with Black/Power/Adc0ck getting probably the most attention from opposition clubs...But there is a downside, with so many good mids in their side, he is gonna struggle to get significant gametime in the middle...I enjoy watching him play with his beautiful skills, so hopefully he can recapture his best form...!

Pretty much do or die time now for Johnstone. Was well worthy of a #1 pick but has failed to shy why consistently since. Has one of the best disposals in the league on his good days with tremendous precision, however, he has one of the worst brainfades on his bad days which come just as often.

I have a feeling Brisbane have got him in for a quick fix to try and get them back into the finals and won't be terribly dissapointed wether he acheives that or fails given the youngsters they have coming through the middle.

I'm the Lions guy so I'll answer this guys

I think he will fit in well and free up the other midfield. I believe him and Bradshaw will part a important role in freeing up roles and balancing out the experience in the team. I'm looking forward to it.

Well, I'm the Lions Lady so I too will answer this

I agree that he will help free up the other midfield members of the team who are often tagged beyond all belief, however I think that that in itself is a double-edged sword. By freeing up other players it would tend to impinge upon his performance- that is if he's being used as a decoy, we won't truly be able to see how well he's performing.

Doesn't matter me if he plays poorly if it means Black and the others play a great game.
