Essendon ruckman Jason Laycock has received a further blow, undergoing new surgery on his foot.
The club just announced on its website that Laycock's foot had been immobilised in a protective boot after having surgery. Some are saying this could be an 8-10 weeks lay-off for the big ruckmen.

He's a dud anyway so I don't really care... All the more gametime for Hille. I think Bellchambers should replace Laycock

Bellchambers will replace Laycock. If Laycock is to stay on at Essendon I think it will be as a permanent Forward where he has actually played some pretty good footy for us. This of course is depending on how long Hill and Lucas stay on and wether or not Gumby and Neagle can come up to par.

Opens the door for Bellchambers no doubt. Kicked a couple of nice goals and used his body well in the NAB Cup, so hopefully he can kick on and get some much needed AFL experience under his belt. Should mean he'll be cherry ripe to challenge Laycock for the 2nd ruck spot in 2010, when we should be flag contenders.

Now with Hille's injury, I have a feeling that Bellchambers may get a run, they can't expect Ryder to ruck the whole season by himself.
