Default AFL Footy Show

Having watched the AFL Footy Show this year, I feel that it is starting to struggle for relevence.

The 3 players that sit on the "second panel" each week have minimal involvement in the show whatsoever and only get involved briefly to discuss the team line-ups for the upcoming matches.

The show seems to be at its best when it has former players on the "second panel". Perhaps that is the tip for Channel 9!

I feel that this has a lot to do with the maturity of the participants (with the exception of Sam Newman as he brings no maturiity or relevence to the footy show at all except when he voices his opinion on The Geelong Football Club like last year or verbally bashing the game). Perhaps Sam needs to refocus his efforts on being a critic (a real one) and he might live a little longer as a panelist on this show. Continuing to carry on the way he is he will struggle for currency.

I know that Channel 9 has now added Footy Classified to its stable and this is being pitched as the hard hitting show and this now means that the Footy Show seems to be locked with a light entertainment profile, but a fresh approach is now needed.

Let us know your thoughts on the show.

I don't mind it still, although it's not as good as it once was. It's still ok for a couple of laughs on a Thursday night.
I agree with your comment on needing a fresh approach, but the question is how much different can you do before the show loses its light entertainment profile?
I also don't mind current players on the panel, as long as they're funny

PWNED?

Quite frankly the Footy Show is lacking a bit these days, probably because of one main thing.
The footballers can't say anything critical about the game these days anymore.
They all got to sit there whilst Sam bags the game out *Which I love*.
One again the AFL controls the players with a gag.

I still when I watch it love it, though it's on a 11pm at night here as the NRL Footy Show is on first.
Which is actually better as the players are quite good, and ow! Johnsy is a gun! Wish he was an AFL player.
His skits are comical gold!
