Default Techie Coach?

What’s amazing is “Dopey” Doren on SEN said that the Melbourne officials were wowed by his presentation which was full of technical bells and whistles. Then played an old interview where I think Bailey said he didn’t know much about the tech stuff, as his son does it all.
I wonder if the boy gets a gig, too?

I reckon Dees are committed to "hawks" model ... clean our dead wood, double-dip then have a good quality squad that could be top 4 for many, many years.

they don't need to make finals.
they really need to boost membership/sponsorship.
Sheeds was a no-brainer for that.

Sigh, The game revolves around the players and coaches not around the fans. Sure they bring in the money but melbourne is surviving enough as it is, it does not need a large influx of members at this current time.

Dean Bailey has been groomed for a top job like Clarkson under the reigns of a great coach in Williams. I mean people were saying the same about Hawthorn who were **** and had low crowds etc. Clarkson may not be the big seller like Sheedy but he's done what every coach prefers than media work. On field success translates to off field success.

Of course they need to make finals! Every team does. It's what keeps the members paying their hard earned every year. If Sheedy had any value left coaching wise, he would still be at the Bombers.

Winning games gets bums on seats, not an old crackpot coach rubbishing on to the media.

I believe he is. You don't win over a Melbourne board that was possibly biased easily. Lets face it, if they couldn't split the candidates based on their presentations, Connolly would have gotten the job.

Dean has fresh ideas and a clear approach to what he is doing. From what I have gathered, he was in a totally different league when it came to the presenations. Hardwick looked like someone not ready for a senior coaching job and the other two have blown their chances aleady, nothing new to offer anymore.
