Default Your team's starting lineup for 2007

I would like everyone to construct the expected starting lineups for rd1 of the season proper. I will accept players with small niggling injuries (such as Troy Simmonds) who may miss the first 1-2 weeks but should be right after that. But i won't accept players with big injury concerns (such as Coughlan - season).
I will start with Essendon. Although, this is not my preferred lineup, i think they will start like this:

FB - Welsh, Michael, Fletcher
HB - McPhee, Bradley, L-Murray
C - McVeigh, Watson, Peverill
HF - Hird, Lucas, M.Johnson
FF - Lovett, Lloyd, Johns
R - Hille, J.Johnson, Stanton
I/C - Laycock, Camporeale, Dyson, Monfries

I would definately play Gumbleton ahead of Johns, but i do expect Gumbleton to play most games. He will get his opportunity through injuries (which are inevitable in football). Others to look out for are Slattery, Davey, and Jetta, who would all go very close to our rd1 side.

North Melbourne

Pratt----------Watt--------Archer
Sinclair-------Petrie--------Firrito

Wells--------Simpson-----Harvey
McIntosh---Swallow-----Harris

Jones-------Edwards-------Grant
Hale-------Thompson------Thomas

Bench: Rawlings, Hansen, Moran, Urch
-------------------------------------------

The Roos have a lot more depth than in previous years and Campbell, Whyman, Riggio, Brown, Gibson & Trotter will always be looking to get in the line-up.

Injuries: Jesse Smith - The kid is a super-star, clearly a class above most the players at his age but some very bad ankle injuries have stopped him playing. Was a father-son potential top 10 pick a couple years ago and when fit will walk straight into the half back flank

Fremantle

FB - Parker, McPharlin, Grover
HB - Hayden, Mundy, Johnson
C - Peake, J Carr, Hasleby
HF - Headland, Pavlich, Webster
FF - Farmer, Tarrant, Murphy
R - Sandilands, Crowley, Bell
I/C - M Carr, J Longmuir, Schammer, Cook/Walker/Black

Kinda feel sorry for the guys I left out, especially the likes of Browne, Drum and Dunn. They have done nothing wrong and deserve to be selected also.

Borak, how can you say that team has no stars? The stars of not only Freo, but the competition (Future or current) are highlighted in the bold. There is no doubt that they are stars, as the journalists have already recognized all of them.

I wouldn't consider some of those players stars, especially the likes of Tarrent who was woeful last season

That's a pretty good team though, i just can't see them winning a premiership (yet)

I have a few alterations in mind:

FB - Welsh, Michael, McVeigh
HB - Bradley, Fletcher, Lovett-Murray
C - McPhee, Watson, Monfries
HF - Hird, Lucas, Lovett
FF - Johns, Lloyd, Davey
R - Hille, J.Johnson, Stanton
I - Slattery, Ryder, Cole, Camporeale

I think Slattery will play from round 1. Another youngster you have missed is "Tassie" Tom Hislop. This guy has big wraps on him and expect him in before round 5. Gumbleton will get a go early but with Johns being Sheedys project player I feel he will play more footy than Gumby. Cole also will get tested out early to see where hes at IMO!

In the coming few weeks, i hope to have a grasp of everyone's starting 22, and will post it up.

Good to hear from you again AliG,
You left Mark Johnson out of the side.
Or perhaps you're worried about his aging body.
I'd make heaps of changes to the Essendon lineup.
Like McPhee to the midfield. Why don't they just make him ruck-rover?
And what about making McVeigh rover? He'd be good there.
Ah... who am i kidding... it's not going to happen.
Well, at least Monfries is getting some midfield exposure. Maybe he'll make a decent rover.

Good to hear from you again Tippaz, it's great to have the boards back up.

I thought M.Johnson was under an injury cloud first few rounds :o if hes back i'd say Peverill to the magoos, until Cole proves hes not up for it!
I think McPhee will get his midfield chances this year now we have 2 key defenders plus Bradley and the ever impressive Lovett-Murray.
I don't want McVeigh in the midfield I think he plays best down the back in a pocket and doubt he has the mentality to play on a smart midfielder!

So you think Everitt will be starting ahead of Jolly?

I thought Everitt would start as a forward and Jolly be your #1 ruck given Everitts poor form last year and his ageing knees he needs it easy as possible to be of any value to you!

Its not the spot i'd be putting Everitt in, but i'd say they'd try him there for a bit for the start of the 2007 season.

If he goes no good or starts feeling th3 burn, then he may go to Full Forward and Micko go to RHFF were he IMO is his best.
