Default Carlton Captaincy

I've been thinking about this for a while now. Does everyone rekon Judd should straight away walk in as captain or maybe someone that been they're longer like Nick Stevens, Heath Scotland, Brendan Fevola or even Marc Murphy?

It might as well be Judd or we'll never hear the end of it.
Everyone says he is a natural leader and deserves to do it.
Back at the WCE he must of been like the pope trying to lead the mafia which would take special leadership skills.

Judd is not a natural leader, I thought that was clear from his time at WC. He did improve his leadership skills during his time and it was noticable early last season. It wouldn't surprise me if they gave it to him though given the lack of senior players and standout captain choices. Stevens is a senior option and I think Murphy and Waite may be earmarked as a captains of the future, so they may choose to go that way now.

yeah. Judd.

the only other person i would consider is Stevens.
however, the guy's coming off a very serious injury (fractured vertabrae - or something like that?)

I would give it to Kade Simpson. He earnt a lot of respect apparently in the last few weeks when they shelved rotation and gave it to him.

I wrecken Judd should be the captain. He was captain at the Eagles, a Brownlow Medallist, Premiership player & he would make a great symbol for Carlton Footy Club. He has a lot of respect from the footy community in general, but not to sure after what happened just before trade week. With his face on membership cards and TV ads, there sure to get a few more members.

Just because he was captain at the Eagles doesn't make him a great captain. It was clear from the outset that he wasn't comfortable as captain and never was throughout his tenure. There are many guys who have large respect in the community like Richo, who don't want or have teh captaincy, plus his image can be used anyway whether it was as captain or not.

I agree with Brades about Kade Simpson- people always look to the best players to be captain eg Judd, but I think Simpson shows the type of courage and natural leadership that a captain should have.
But i think it will go to Stevens.

I never said because he was captain at the Eagles it would make him a great captain........., I just said it would help his claims a little more. There probably are heaps of guys that have respect in the footy community, but Judd I think has tonnes, as most opposition club's supporters like him alot. His image would most probably be used if he didn't get the captaincy, but he should get a little more publicity if he was captain.

i think murphy is a natural leader and i think that they should give it to Stevens or another older experienced play and when they retire give it to murphy. Judd has enough pressure on his and i dont think he could cope as captain
