Default Geelong Can anyone knock geelong off?

can anyone knock geelong off?
i really cant see anyone doing it.
maybe a team like st kilda is they can stay fit could cause an upset in the finals, but as far as the minor premiership is concerned, i think its all over

Very, very hard to see anybody get close. Unless injuries get the better of them.

The only reason Geelong won the flag last year was because they didn't play the Eagles in the final. Even when they got so close before they had a Western Australian captain. Watch out - '92 '94 '06 ... '08!!

Geelong look so far ahead of the pack it's scary. Only positive for other supporters is that they have about 10 blokes out of contract at season's end who have risen dramatically in market value over the last 12 months so hopefully we can pull away a few of their guns to bring them back to the pack.

Doesn't make much sense.... In 2005, Geelong beat WCE by 76 points in Rd 21. WCE got home by 3 points in Rd 10 in 2006. But Geelong had a good win over WCE again in Rd 7, 39 points was the margin.

Seems Geelong have done fairly well as of late. I didn't see WCE in the Grand Final, where were they???

Well don't forget that Collingwood came within 5 Points of knocking Geelong off in the Prelim Final, so the Cats aren't exactly unbeatable. The Cats were brilliant last year but they have probably reached their peak and it's hard to see them getting any better. The Magpies have a young developing list and we actually have more scope for improvement then the Cats, so i wouldn't rule out the Pies as a possible challenger to the Cats this year. I agree that Geelong will again finish on Top of the Ladder, but once the Finals start anything can happen. Although as TF said, some injuries to Geelong players would help.

Yes, you are spot on. Collingwood nearly did beat Geelong in the preliminary final, and what a great match that was I recall.

True, and in the game before THAT Collingwood only just got home against a battered Eagles side - in another great game. Doesn't Collingwood have something like the third youngest list but one of the most experienced in terms of games played? Dangerous. I reckon they'll finish above Geelong (maybe even second - after West Coast, of course!)

Collingwoods list is pretty weak in key areas. Ruck, Forwards and Backs.

I think you will find thats what everybody said last year. Tough team to predict how they will go in 2008!
