Fight for 8th

The fight for the last finals spot is on. Any thoughts?
I pick Carlton (who I think will upset the pies on monday). North are fading fast (spoon next year), Port dont have what it takes & I dont like the saints for no good reason.
I think the lions are good enough to hold 7th, but maybe?

Brisbane are potentially a top 4 side. Carlton don't have what it takes, I can see the Saints or Roos making up the numbers, but there is a big gap between 7th and 8th.

North will make it by half a game from St Kilda, and Carlton will slip to 10th.

Carlton will drop the big one this week to Essendon, its traditional and historical that both Carlton and Essendon ***** each other up at critical times, and this week its revenge for 1999 with the Dons knocking Carlton out of contention for the 8.

We made the finals last year and beat Hawthorn (where our side was younger and less experienced). Again this year we have a very young side - we've gotten games into the likes of Lower, Obst, McMahon, Thomas, Campbell, Riggio and Scotty Thompson.

With the injuries we've had it's impressive that we have beaten the likes of Hawks and Doggies while getting mighty close to Geelong.

I can understand not thinking we'll make the 8, but harsh saying we're fading and will get the spoon next year.

Ermmmm.... did you see our injury list? - We would have lost to every team in the comp with the team we had out there. It's just impossible to win with so many key players out and a structure like that.

We had N Thompson, C Jones and A Edwards out of our forward line (arguably our three best forwards, with Grant getting to the end of his career). That left two crumbing forwards, a ruckman and a second gamer who is nowhere near AFL standard. Not to mention all our other injured players...

The list we had out there still should've put in a better effort, it was discraceful - but these things happen. Freo had been under the pump and put in a very good performance + we had come off an extremely physical game against Geelong
