Default General Interest for Cousins

It's interesting to see what the spokesman for each club had to say about recruiting Ben Cousins next season

Adelaide: Were just not interested.
Brisbane: No Comment.
Carlton: Were sort of going down more of a youth set up.
Collingwood: No Comment.
Essendon: Unlikely he doesn't fit in with our youth policy.
Fremantle: We haven't discussed Ben Cousins at any of our List Management meetings in the past. It would be highly unlikely that he would be discussed at any stage in the future.
Geelong: No Comment.
Hawthorn: We've said we wouldn't be interested in him all along.
Melbourne: Wer'e focused on the age group of 18-22.
North Melbourne: He's probably not the right fit for us at the moment for a whole host of reasons, age, amount of footy he's missed.
Port Adelaide: I don't think we would be interested in recruiting a player at his age.
Richmond: Does he take the spot of one of our up and coming midfielders? that could be the case.
St Kilda: The most important thing is that Ben gets his health back on track and any other discussions are premature as far as we're concerned.
Sydney: It's been well documented that we've got no interest in him.
Western Bulldogs: No Comment.
West Coast Eagles: It was categorical when he left so I wouldn't have thought Cuz was in our plans going forward.

It's very hard to say what the clubs refusing to comment think of drafting him. But by the looks of these comments the Saints and Tigers may be interested.

what do you think?

I would not like it if he became a Melbourne player ....

I wish him well but hope he is not in our plans for next year.

I have the same thoughts for my team too TF

I certainly wish him all the best but just hope it's one of the other 15 clubs jumpers that he may pull on

I have to agree with you two, but what if taking on Cousins would win you a premiership? Would you do it then?

MMMM doesnt look positive at all really, only a couple not really saying much.

I think clubs who may consider him will wait for the next 6 months and decide more after Ben has shown he is on track.

He is such a great player that he could enhance the performance of most teams, although at 30 it means he has to be right from the first bounce of 09 as he has only 3 years at best.

I wish Ben every success in his endevours.

Clubs are taking the morale high ground at the moment.

But if you could pick him up for a late draft/pre season pick at minimum/low salary, many clubs would think it worth the gamble, especially if they are around the mark (eg Brisbane, Dogs, Hawks etc). Add a testing clause and you could do a lot worse than pick 82.

Definitely. Good to see you back posting, Dozer.

Still a lot of water to pass under the bridge. Clubs aren't going to be putting forward any clear intentions yet, but I'm sure clubs 'in the window' (particularly the 'No comment' clubs) will be strongly considering the prospect.
