Default When you played.

I was watching on the box where players missed marks and got Falconed. This brought back memories of when I played and the worst Falcon on planet earth.

So tell me,
1. Have you been falconed?
2. Your worst ego destroyer.
3. The worst team you played for.

1. For me was when I went to spoil a running shot on goal and I got the ball kicked into my face so F#@king hard, that the ball wrapped around my face and I think the points of the ball met at the back of my head.

2. I went for the biggest kick I could muster, only to have an opposition player pluck the ball off my boot in mid air before contact.
I ended up winded, on my back and carried from the field.

3. Under 15's in Canberra. My coach bought us all a can of coke and a hotdog after the game because we kept the opposition down to 5 goals in the 3rd quarter.

P.S. Was I any good? No way, but I enjoyed it.

1. Can't remember being falconed during a game (I probably have though), but it's happened a few times at training.

2. Running into a goal post during junior school footy - thankfully there was padding.

3. Probably my house footy team at school (in Y12). We were useless, used to get routinely pumped by more than 10 goals in 60 minute games (15 min/quarter), most games the ball only came into our F50 on a handful of occassions. A bit like WC vs Geelong last week, only every week.

1) Looking up at someones high bomb, straight into the sun and having it go straight on my head. Knocked cold and out for the game

2) Don't remember too many except just trying to be too cocky and messing it up.

Oh and Also missing a training session costing me my chance at my first Agrade game in year 8, which was a final of sorts. Coach never picked me for A's cause he thought I was a slacker, but in reality I had a doctors appointment and told him but he forgot.

3) My team in high school (Year 9 B's) got thrashed week in and week out, kicking one or two goals a game. Then there are the times that we also upset the apple cart by beating a highly fancied team thanks to one or two players who dropped back.

I've only ever played for one team one year...

1) I have never been Falconed

2) Slipping on wet ground and sliding into another team mate

3) We did so badly we never tried again

1) The only time I have been falconed was with another round ball sport. I went to do a soccer volley and I sconed myself on the musch. I was stunned for a few secs but otherwise the only thing hurt was a bit of pride.

2) giving away a 50 M penalty for rolling the ball back to the opposition player because I couldn't throw it back far enough to get to him on the full.

3) the 2 years I played competitive football were both pretty successfull. We won the grand final 1 year, dropping just 1 game for the year (by a kick)
the other year we lost the grand final (by a kick)

Never been flogged hey?.

I used to play against Simon Overland (you vics may no of him and his police career).
Anyway, if he didn't kick a dozen a game against us, he had no legs.
Also, he was 10 foot 10 back then.

1) Never heard of this but assume it's getting hit on the head/face by the ball?
A few times but nothing really bad. Got booted in the face while diving to smother the opposition ruckman's kick. He was just trying to boot the forward ball from a centre clearance. Ended up with stitches in my lip and mild concussion.

2) Bouncing half a dozen times from full back to the centre of the ground, tried to kick long at full pace but kicked it straight to an opposition player about 15 metres in front of me. 30 seconds later they had goaled. It was the 3rd/4th time I'd had big runs with the ball in that game and it was also the last!

3) In under 11's I played for the same team as my uncles who were playing A grade. The first year we won the premiership. Then I went up to under 13's with only about 3 of my team mates. The players 1 year older than us were all **** and we were thrashed every week. One full forward kicked 20 goals against us!!
The next year my league changed the age groups so I was stuck with the **** team again. We were actually a few points up when the siren (bell) went but the opposition had a set shot in front of goal and we lost.
Then the league changed the age groups back to the old system again!!

My mates at school convinced me to play with them instead and since my uncles had both moved out of town I changed clubs. We finished top after the minor round but lost both finals

My first club is the same club that Isaac Weetra played for and my second club is where Brett Burton played his juniors before moving to Adelaide. Burton's dad was A grade coach there for a while and I played A grade with Brett's brother Ty before he moved to Adelaide for uni.

never been falconed...never heard that term actually

Theres been a few ego crushers, i had a set shot into a gale and i kicked the ground john dorotich style instead of the ball, another time our team was comming home hard in the last quarter, we were still 15 pts down with 5 to play, i got a 50 mtr penalty after a mark and ended up on the end of the goal square and missed! after the game the coach said......nobody blames you for the loss buuuuuut if you do that again youll be playing back in the 2's for ever.

Our senior team was pretty rank back when i was in the under 16s...so rank they decided to blood a couple of youngsters into the 2's to see how they would go, me being one, i was stick thin and weighed about 65kgs. they put me at full back on this huge bloke called syme...he's name is burnt into my brain.....he kicked 24 that day, if i played infront hed nudge me out, if i played behind, hed stick his butt out and out reach me, if i played along side he would out body me...i had nothing.(must have left me on him for a learning curve).we lost by 280 odd pts.

that same year ex ess player michael werner kicked about 180 goals for gisbourne..including 28 goals 20 behinds against nth fawkner.(48 kicks for a ff!)........made me feel a bit better that i wasnt on the other end of that!
he only kicked 13 against us.
