Default Expansion

What are AFL fans thoughts on Gold Coast and West Sydney?

I think Gold Coast will do okay....but not sure about West Sydney..

Swans dont rate that well and still average only 30 000 for a 1 team town...I would rather grow Swans into a powerhouse before bringing in another team.

Disagree - a local rivalry and footy every week will have an effect on the city. It will be tough but longer term it should be a good investment for the AFL. It is vital the new team grounds itself in the area its based - it has to call itself the "Real Sydney" it must represent its area. (see my other post about the Celtic thing) Name is important too.
I am less sure about Gold Coast - been a graveyard in the past.

Maybe a team from Tassie could be on the cards in the future

Default Tassie Tigers

Definitely a team in Tassie. But I don't know why the extra teams. Get rid of some of the teams in Victoria. Tassie Tigers?
It is so sad that football is losing its unique vernacular to 'business speak' with the use of phrases such as "grow the game" and "franchise". shudder

In todays day and age(FOOTALL AFL) its all about the dollar first and the players second......supporters third.

No way man we dont come third! We come twenty-third. AFL treat us like trash.

Your 100% right its all about the .... MONEY!!!! However, this will never change as long as my bum point to the ground. Supporters are their own worst enemies get tooooooo caught up in their own team. Cant see the forest for the tress so to speak.

Get rid of teams in Victoria? Thats the worst idea I've ever heard on this site.

The following are pure gold:
Zero Punctuation, Family Guy, Mighty Boosh, Black Books, RATM, QOTSA, Buckethead, Werder Bremen and the Cats

Gold Coast - maybe, but not ready just yet.

Western Sydney - no. if Sydney Swans can't take off, why give em' another team.

Tasmania - yes, 20yrs from now
