MIGHTY MAGPIES 01 is on a distinguished road
Post Herald Sun SuperTeam announced

  • THE Herald Sun has just announced its inaugural SuperTeam - the best 22 players from the 2008 season.
  • Selected by Herald Sun and Sunday Herald Sun footy experts after plenty of robust debate, the team was named in position, with players only eligible for positions in which they played this season.

It was selected as though the team was to play a game, with players assigned to roles required by AFL teams, such a nominated tagger - Cameron Ling - and a secondary ruckman - Drew Petrie.

Ling makes their team despite being left out of the squad of 40 All-Australian contenders.

The Herald Sun SuperTeam is as follows:
B: Dale Morris, Matthew Scarlett, Sam Fisher
HB: Luke Hodge, Nathan Bock, Corey Enright
C: Adam Cooney, Jimmy Bartel, Cameron Ling
HF: Steve Johnson, Nick Riewoldt (c), Matthew Richardson
F: Lance Franklin, Brendan Fevola, Brent Harvey
R: Dean Cox, Chris Judd (vc), Gary Ablett
Int: Joel Corey, Drew Petrie, Simon Black, Robert Murphy

Coach: Mark Thompson

Quality team - dont think there can be too many arguments.

Great to see Drew Petrie getting some recognition for an outstanding season.
