Default Round 2 Wrapup - the good, bad and downright ugly

The Good:
Free-flowing high scoring footy returns. 8 of the 16 clubs that lined up on the weekend kicked 15 goals or more and 4 of the 8 matches returned combined totals of over 200pts.

West Coast overcoming off-field dramas to reproduce onfield spectaculars in the opening two rounds. Chris Judd and Daniel kerr have proven theirs better ways of getting highs in the West with some standout individual performances.

The new face of the 8. 5 Teams whose fans were starved in September last year currently fill the 8 with 3 of those heading the Eagles in the undefeated group.

The Bad:
Fremantle and Melbournes winless records. 2 of the teams that promised so much to end last year once again start the season showing so little, with matches against quality opponents this week 0-3 starts are on the cards for both.

Umpiring! The whistleblowers seem to have even less clues this year. It started with a poor 50 to Grant in round 1 and has moved onto some of the most inconsistent game calling ever seen. Freekicks for holding the ball were rampant in round 1 with 78 paid yet the rule drops into the wilderness in round 2 with a losuy 30 paid for the same offence, yet this is how they claim to deserve a payrise.

The Ugly:
The growing injury list. Just as we get set to see stars like Riewoldt and Cox lineup for their first hitouts of the season, half a dozen others go down including Neitz, Hall and Akermanis.

Victorian footy still on the outer. Only 3 victorian teams have wiggled into the 8 early with 5 out of 6 interstate teams staking claims. Hopefully this will improve throughout the year given the amount of time the interstaters have already spent on top in the last 7 years.
