Default Hypothetically - If you were an AFL coach ...

If you were an AFL coach on the verge of getting a job back in the league and had a choice of the bottom 8 teams from last year who would you take and why?

I would be keen to pick up Brisbane. Whilst I wouldn't expect to much improvement in the first season maybe just hanging out the 8 I feel with another year under the belt of some youngsters than can become a finals force again. Brown would be a key factor as well as some exciting youngsters they have coming through that look capable of stamping their name in the league like Sherman, Roe, Brennan, Selwood and others like this years #4 draftee Matt Leunberger who is touted to be a Dean Cox clone. Other key players like Brownlow medallist Black and Luke Power have plenty of footy left in them to help the youngsters along and I see vast improvement in 2-3 years from this side!

Port or Carlton.

I mean who wouldn't want to coach Gibbs, Murphy and Fev?

And Port should be back in the 8 this year so my job would be safe and they will have a crack in a few years.

I was gunna say Hawthorn but they're are so weak in some positions.
I would hate having to coach them also as Kennett is there.

Mate, they've rigged everything to gain high draft picks over the last 3 years. In fact, i don't think anyone has stripped back like this before. They've taken the St Kilda blueprint to a new level. And the quality of these kids is amazing. Hawks are totally set up for the next 10 years.

Hmm bottom 8 teams... hmm..Port. They seem to have the best list out of all teams in terms of across the board. They still have youthful players in most positions or ready to take the step into those positions. Tredrea is still 28-29, Lade is the only concern and who will take his spot, otherwise the rest of the field for them is good. One minor concern would be the forward line without Tredrea.. but when you compare them to Hawthorn and Carlton - they used their draft picks on other players, not just Midfielders. Thats why Hawthorn and Carlton will take a few more years to go far, if they go far at all - Yes thats right, I still do not rate the hawks.

Hawks have spent picks on Key position players, Buddy and Roughead arent exactly in the Crawford mould

Yes but they aren't in the Johnno Brown/Pavlich mould are they.
