Default Victorians Clubs Getting Shafted

At the weekend both Demetriou and AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson said they now recognised the need for an inquiry.

“We are a little bit concerned the non-Victorian clubs have had greater success and we’re interested in looking at the structural differences between the Victorian clubs and the Victorian competition underneath the AFL to see if there are any issues related to that,” Anderson said on radio yesterday.

Then the big boss Demetriou said a range of issues needed to be analysed.

“It is great for the national game but there are clubs in this town ... the Bulldogs who haven’t won a premiership for 50 years, Geelong and St Kilda 40 years, Richmond nearly 30 years. There is something going on in Victorian football that is just not cyclical,” he said.

No kidding! These guys have been in their jobs for HOW long and they are only starting to work this out now!!!!

IMHO lets get this sorted once and for all before its tooooo late.

Hmm, perhaps Demetriou read my post on "the need for a level peg" and took it onboard where everyone else thought I was a ****head :-)

Unhappy Doctoring the league

I wrote in reply to a newspaper report and I don't really understand why Demetriou or Anderson are involved in this discussion. It smacks of doctoring the competition, what would make them satisfied 8 victorian clubs in the top 8. There is mass inequality but to the non victorian clubs so I dont think anything can be done other than the strugling clubs need to take a good look at themselves.
Victorian clubs doing alright this year Collingwood, Geelong, Kangaroos and Hawthorn all will probably make the 8 and if my math is correct that is 50%.
Where is the PROBLEM!!

Time is clearly proving the system is wrong!

Is all about money all we are asking for is equality.

Thats very generous of you to allow us to do "alright". I think the AFL has finally recognised a very dangerous trend ... The Victorian football public is not prepared to settle for "alright" in an uneven competition.

Red face Dangerous trends

I am not sure what dangerous trends you have identified if it is that the flag has left victoria recently then yes that is true, but not for the fact that non victorian teams have it easy. I would like to know what you Mr. Talking Football what do you want it can't just be a Demon flag every year how boring would that be.Or do you want a bombers / blues grand final every year.
It all smacks of doctoring the competition maybe not now but eventually especially if you want financial equality. Clubs with more wealth at the moment are due to hard work that have been put in, the only one that has an advantage in that area maybe the Crows but you still have to see where they came from to get to where they are now.
Any of the clubs in Melbourne could emulate them and if they got their recruiting right they would be up there with the rest of them, remember the wheel turns and next year you will find clubs like Carlton and Essendon will be back in the top 8. Also they should not give up on this season it is probably only out of reach of two clubs.
