Default Denis Pagan - Time is Up

I keep on hearing that Pagen is a wonderful coach, no matter how good he is surely his time at the blues is over!!!! He simply is not getting through to the team the players look disinterested there is no game plan evident the back line is in a mess where is the improvement over the year if anything the team is running backwards. I do not blame Favola at all where is the support ?time & time has 2 or 3 opponets if Carlon does not act quickly on the coaching issue not only might fevola go but others too in frustration not fun playing in a team that gets flogged week after week is it ?Pagen you banked many thousands of dollars from Carlton do the right thing stand down now !!!

that's a bit harsh on Denis (welcome to the site, by the way )

i always thought Pagan has done the right thing by playing the young kids and attacking football. Carlton were the 2nd highest scoring team in the comp just a few weeks ago. At least that has given the fans something to cheer about. the loss to Melbourne will be justified by the end of the year if they manage to get their hands on the 1st round priority draft pick. all they have to do is tank the rest of their games so they get no.1 draft pick Matthew Kreuzer. get him, then build from there. that's what i'd want if i were a Carlton supporter!

Denis Pagan lost my respect after he spat on Carey.

THe prioroty pick rule needs to be changed before the end of the year. If Carlton is still not good enough, **** em. What have they done to deserve yet another number one pick. They have had the benefits for the last couple of years. Every other team has improved. The Bombers did not get a priority pick after last season and have improved. The Tigers will not get a priority pick either. This rule is as stupid as anything the AFL has come up with lately and needs to be addressed. THey have had what? 3 or 4 top 5 picks in the last 3 years, why give them two more. rediculous.

The AFL needs to revert to a lottery system similar to the NBA, at least then you will not have teams tanking for picks. Everyone outside the eight would have a chance of getting the number 1 pick.

And in the NBA you have teams that are consistently bad, with consistently low crowd numbers and season tickets.
Lottery isn't the answer for the AFL.
I don't see how you can say that a team like Carlton doesn't deserve a top pick? They aren't consistently competitive, and in my eyes, that constitutes them as worthy as a pick.

It only doesn't work in the NBA because these consistantly bad teams trade away the good players they draft soon after for quick fixes. That would not be such an issue in the AFL. Perhaps even the bottom four sides go lottery, then te rest as normal. I don't really have the answer but I know this system is not right.

Take a team like the Kangaroos, who battle away year after year, finishing mid table regularly. They never get a priority pick or a top 3 pick so they dont get the best shot at young players. But good recruiting and heart seems to have worked for them this year.

Carlton may be competitive, and they have the makings of a good list. But they have not improved much as far as wins in three years. I don't understand why we should reward them anymore than any other struggling team.

Would be interested in anyone elses ideas on this too.
