Default The POACHING of good talent

The AFL does nothing to stop the POACHING of good talent basically by Hawthorn, Sydney, Geelong & Collingwood. These clubs suddenly find "good young" or "established stars" wanting to join them. Drafted players are nurtured & groomed by the club drafting them only to lose them to "hungry" clubs who want success tomorrow & dont have the NOUS to educate their own draftees. Perhaps the AFL should intervene & the clubs should get a salary cap discount to retain them. The richer & more arrogant clubs like the four mentioned should be penalized for stealing talent that they cannot breed. Those lower clubs will only suffer & get pittance for educating draftees..
It does happen.

as evidenced by latest proposed moves players are "requesting" transfers to major clubs at the expense of "poorer clubs". Even clubs like Western Bulldogs will eventually join clubs like Melbourne, GWS & Brisbane where poaching will decimate them. Next could be St Kilda with its young potential stars.. Still the AFL stands silent. We will end up with second tier "breeding" clubs & wealthy top tier clubs who just POACH.
