Australians unfit and overweight - AFL Footy Forum

just finished reading a article stating that 95% of Australians are classified as unfit and that a third of the population is overweight. How accurate are these figures? got the overweight issue from a commercial. think this is becoming a major issue in Australia, especially since we are one of the developed nations in the world.

Probably done by either a "Hippy" or an American.. Or an American Hippy.
This is ****, how many people play sport in this country, they'd have to easily make up at least 10% of the population.

Just another survey for people to make others feel insecure.

They looked at the number of people who do the recommended amount of exercise each week. 2.5 hrs a week i think.

This is ridiculous - fat Americans, more like fat Australians.

Also, did you know that 2/3 kids are over weight!

i don't think this is the main concern. the fact that so many Australians being overweight is a major problem. with the blend of fast food/unhealthy eating and mixed with no exercise. its no wonder so many Australians are overweight.

dunno how u would classify 'fit', maybe if your healthy and able to run 20m without passing out? i remember the 20m shuttle tests in high school, ur fit if u manage to get 7.0 or something. highest i ever got was a 6.2 and got lower every year.

I got 8.5 and 7.5 gets you into the armed forces and a lot of people i know have gotten over that so im pretty sure those stats are wrong or they have a very high standard of 'fit'.
