Right now, i'm not so keen on Hawthorn. everyone is putting them in the top4, but i think they'll struggle to repeat last year's efforts.

I'm a bit the opposite I'm quite bullish on the Hawks. I just like the fact they have a core group of players all around the same experience. Last year they manged to get 15-20 solid games into the "core" which stands them in good stead for a genuine tilt at the flag.

I rate Hawthorn as the #2 side in the comp behind Geelong listwise. With guys like Rioli, Tuck, Muston, Morton and more yet to cement a spot their midfield is superstrong. Forward line has the potential to be the best in the comp if Roughead stays up there and keeps improving and Buddy learns to kick straighter from set shots and give away less frees. Williams back gives them another 30+ goals IMO and reduces the load on the youngsters. Campbell and Taylor whilst not the biggest names in the game form a pretty formidable ruck duo when you get into the bare stats and are well and truly competitve with the best big men in the game. Their defense is still lacking with Brown the only true standout down back IMO. Gilham may yet make it as a key defender but Dawson is useless and Croad not much better.

I think anything less than top four would show the hawks heading in the wrong direction. Theres massive room to improve on last years performance which I think was just shy of a team good enough to win a flag IMO. But I felt the same way after the 01 season when essendon knocked us out.
Lets just hope the final against Adelaide doesnt set a long term precendent for how we play in the big games.

I agree I have been tellin all my mates for the last 3-4 yrs that we'll be
premiers in '08,I honestly believe we can have a good crack at it this year for sure,so long as we don't have too many major injuries with key players,
I think the only part of our game we need to improve on is the handball...Don't Bloody do it so much! God it frustrates the hell out me when I see 5 handballs in the centre square then on the fifth one they stuff it up and turn it over....grrrrr
