Well I think I explained myself pretty well above, however. Simply put we all have our cap and need to make the most of it. Distributing players based on history, current price,How much you have to budget for KPPs and MPPs and what part of the field needs more money, what will make some, your needs and preference. Now I personally wouldnt play 400k+ for a second year rookie or player who went well Broughton for example. Chances of them petering out are moderate to high and a drop in price is almost certain. Great Expectations one might say. I would much prefer spending the same on a proven performer with history, or spending less on a lower priced player with a good chance of improvement. His low price could be based on risk it mostly is I.E an injury or a terrible previous year he likely wont repeat. Now everyone knows this, it is basic no secret. I just have a personal rule of no second year players pretty much full stop. Unless theres an exception to the rule. Like Ziebell, without repeating myself on why I would recommend him as I have already said this. My theory based on recommending him is as above. He falls into that lower price player with potential to improve greatly on his price and get game time. Therefore making you some money for a clean premium upgrade later on with some low amount of cash in the bank. Therefore progressing your team without a sideways trade. So probably a worthy calculated risk.As we all have to take when fielding our team. Cheers |

Hi Sams Town
Thank-you for your reply. I've decided to split this thread because its a very interesting topic in itself. Maybe a few other members would like to comment on it on its own. IMHO ... 2nd year players can be a very tricky area for the reasons you mention. However, ultimately IMHO think you have to make a judgment call, like you have done. Weather, the player is going to be a relatively "cheap" keeper or is an "expensive" up-grader. IMHO players coming back from injury sometimes fall into the same dilemma.

Thanks for your impartial outlook on other peoples theories. It is encouraging this being my 2nd day on this forum I think you as site founder represent it well. Its a good idea to make a seperate forum on the thories of stocking your teams and even uprading whilst the season is underway could make some very good reading. The beauty of it I think is that our assesments and theories are based on our character and personality so everyones shall be slightly or extremely different but should be respected as such. I gotta say SC is like a combination of punting on horses and the stock market and shares LOL with footy statistics being your commodities. Thanks again for your input look forward to reading the new thread as it evolves. Cheers |
