very novice attempt.
just my like my 1st ever dreamteam year.
You'll have to start all over again.
Reserves players are our main source of price-rise. You don't want to build a squad with excessively priced reserves because they won't be as profitable. The best reserves players are around the 90k mark. Look for players who will get a regular game this season - they will boost in price. As long as they collect a handful of points each week, that ouhgt to be sufficient backup. It would be a terrible thing to watch all of Steven King's points go to waste, as you've left him out of your starting 22!
Your backs are a bunch of duds. Generally, the better pointscorers are midfield-orientated players. Not players like O'Hailpin, Merrett, Thursfield. Try to avoid players who just lockdown opponents (such as full-backs) because they don't produce as many stats, and really miss out on the CD points. Chris Johnson (MEL) & Richard Cole aren't quite established players at their respective clubs, so don't buy them. If they don't play, they score 0pts, and won't appreciate in price! Look for players who are guaranteed starters. Jess Sinclair is your best pick.
You've picked a star-studded centreline alright. But i would highly recommend cutting back on your centres. It would allow you to pour some more money into the backs. I think the best bargains are in the centres (Rischitelli is a perfect example). I don't expect Connors & Petterd to be starting rd1.
Rucks is strong enough as it is. You don't need King & Jamar in the reserves - that is a total waste of money. White/Sandilands should be strong enough to last the season (barring injury of course). I would advise to downgrade your reserves. The min. wage rucks are an awful lot to choose from. I think most will struggle to get a game. 1 semi-decent backup is required (Jamar is okay, or perhaps someone even cheaper). You should have at least 1 min. wager though.
In the forwards you've got 3 strong picks (Brown, Lloyd, Hall), but 4 mid/low picks as well. I think your top 3 are far too excessive, and it's hurting your mid/lower players all round. Rusling is injured - he will miss the 1st half of the season. Nathan Ablett looks set to play, but could struggle in the points department. McDougall actually looks like a great pick. Milne seems underpriced too.
With the extra money, you should consider more mid-priced players (who are on the way up). Look for
midfielder-type players because they get the most points. Look for
big goalkickers (CHF/FF) because they will score heavily when they kick a bag. Look for players with
excellent disposal skills like Lindsay Gilbee because they set up a lot of goals. Take extra note of any players with
kick-in duties like Josh Hunt because a kickout can often lead to a goal. Consider any possible
All-Australian candidates for 2007 because star players seemingly find the points somehow.
Stick to players who DON'T MISS GAMES - probably the most critical point of all!! You don't want to be blowing trades on swapping over star players. Those trades are for improving an upgrading your weakest players. Once your 90k reserves become 290k reserves, simply trade him out for another 90k reserve. With your 200k profit, you can upgrade your good bargain McDougall into another star like Pavlich.
Perhaps, you could read over my 'hot prospects' thread and try to make some sense out of it. It ought to explain a few things. In the end, you will know how to find a good bargain.
