Default RAVS STAT RATS SuperCoach 2008 - Advice?

B: Gilbee, H.Shaw, Newman, Johnc0ck, Kennelly, Symes, Hurn (Proud, Spangher)
C: Dal Santo, N.Stevens, Coughlan, Gibbs, N.Jones, Houli (McNamara, Bird)
R: Cox, Simmonds (Kreuzer, Meesen)
F: J.Brown, B.Johnson, B.Deledio, B.Burton, W.Tredrea, J.Porplyzia, C.Rioli (K.Tippett, L.Hansen)

Have a massive $316,400 in the bank.

- I'll probably put Chaplin in for one of my backs if he's named for round 1.
- Taken risks with the midfield, only purchasing one premium
- Hampson really put a spanner in the works, is Meesen the next best bench option in the rucks?
- Forward line probably needs re-shaping - I feel a bit uncomfortable starting either Rioli or Hansen. I'm strongly considering putting Jetta in there for one of the forward rookies...

Feel free to tear my team to shreds!

That's a great team Rav!

Rioli should be ok. Hawks are raving about him.
Not sure about Hansen. Saw him once last year and he looked lost. I know he's got a year's development behind him now but I don't expect him to get big scores.
Jetta looked good when I saw him live against the Lions. Apparently played well against Dogs too (don't get many games here in QLD so just going by what I heard on that one) but bombers supporters have been a bit disappointed with him and he might have an injury now?
He's currently in my side because he impressed me in that first game but I'm keeping an eye on things

Nice squad Rav. Not sold on Kennelly this year, got a feeling last year was the exception and not the rule since Sydney's backs have always shared similar stats think it was just a rare purple patch he may not reproduce.

With over 300K left i'd definitely upgrade that midfield, no need to get any more premiums I only have Dal myself however theres some guys primed to move around the 400K mark and 1-2 of them could make that squad look so much better.

Thanks for the comments guys. Keep them coming, if anyone has anything more to add.

Also how do you Essendon supporters rate Dyson, Dempsey and Hislop's (haven't heard much about him this P/S) potential as SC players this year? Do you rate any of them above Houli in terms of value?

Pete, I don't rate Hansen's scoring potential that highly either - even though Laidley has shown intentions to play him as a tall winger this year - but I think he'll be a decent cash cow in the forwards. Who would you take over Hansen as a bench player?

Ali, I'll probably swap Kennelly for Chaplin, if he's named in the round 1 team. Thanks for the tip re: midfield, looking at it you're probably right - got rid off Logan (think he's more suited to DT than SC) and brought in N.Jones. If Cogs doesn't pull up, looking at bringing in one of McLean/Embley/Swallow.

Have $185300 in the bank now.

hey, nice team rav !!

just a question, do u really rate melbourne mids ??
with jones already in and mclean as one of your option for cogs...

how does their centre ball up set-up look like ??
or probably, who are their outside players if jones, mclean, n mcdonald all going inside ??? i cant really think of any other good players there...
green ?? nuhh... bate ?? injured for couple rds...

and i dont rate kennely as well... dont think he can do well again...
what about mattner ??

I think the Melbourne mids are underrated - at full fitness they could push quite a few teams. On the outside, Bruce is their best, with guys like Buckley, Davey, Green, Moloney etc. also rotating through - TF would know much more than me about them.

I really rate N.Jones - was close to winning the NAB Rising Star last yr and will be gun inside mid and fantasy player of the future. Brock McLean had a rusty season last yr and is bound to improve if he has better luck with injuries this yr.

I never saw Mattner as a good fantasy player, but looking at his history it isn't too bad and he's had a solid pre-season. Will consider him as an alternative to Kennelly/Hurn now.

too many middle-tier players (big mistake of mine last year). need some more big guns.
instead of having Newman + Johnc0ck + Kennelly + Symes + Hurn..... maybe keep 2 of those player and buy 2 big guns + 1 cheapo
and i would strongly recommend Pavlich ahead of J.Brown. *he hasn't missed a game since rd14 2001*

mate, Dyson's Champion Data Stats in the Nab Cup are phenomenal. he's certainly surprised the hell out of me. he's a 5th year player now - it's about time this guy delivered! i think he'll play wing, should be a 1st team regular. could be this year's version of Foley (fingers crossed). i'm seriously looking at buying him.
Haven't seen/heard much of Hislop's pre-season. i don't think he's close to selection.
Dempsey is surely in our best22 now, but i see he's been misclassified as a midfielder and his price is well above base. i think we'll have to pass.
As far as VFM, i'd have to say Houli offers the most.

i dont think melbourne will move too far from where they were last year, but i have a good feeling about brock mclean and think he will be back to being a gun again this year and one to pick up

Dyson = 22 games probably a 85+ average in SC. Dempsey is a likely 12-15 gamer and will play half-back averaging around 70. Hislop may only play a few games given other mid's are ahead and he's been a naughty boy(somebody smack him). Houli could play anywhere between 15-22 games this year and i expect an average close to 100. His passing is precise, he can kick a goal and knows where the footy is.

The main thing to remember is Knights coachecd Bendigo last year so had most of the young boys for a while and understands their capabilities.
